+1 one of the few things that has happened to me as well. i bring in royal purple. notice that royal purple when heated looks like any other synthetic oil...amber/yellowish in color. when cold it's...(surprise!) PURPLE. i've checked the oil when cold a few times and it was tan/brown! it only happened with this other service guy and hasn't happened the last couple of times....but i start to wonder where they kept my $40 worth of royal purple?

wow now it makes sense, they got bought out...I hate this buyout crap. It looks like my company will bee bought out soon as well and right now everyone is in panic mode.
I have yet to see a buy out that actually improved a company so everytime I've seen it it destroyed anything good.
I'm all for making money but this **** sucks ***, these damn corporations need to start thinking of their customers not just their fn bank accounts.

sorry, I' ranting a bit here, I feel better now

Parts dept is great, but service dept, like ANY other nissan dealer is garbage. I only take my car to the dealer if a HAVE to for warranty, other that than i get my fluids changed at super autobacs and speak to the tech myself and WATCH them do the work, and tip them ofcourse

I took my car there for the fuel TSB and to buy new tires and put on new brake pads that I bought from them, and lastly to repair my broken fuel guage (guage would not reflect actual fuel in tank).

Let me just say, Andy in the parts department is KICK ***. And that any parts purchases I make in the future will definately be from them. No Ifs ands or buts.

However, their service department blows chunks threw a straw with a hair monkey defacating on it and then sucking it back through the straw.
(I hope that was descriptive enough...)

So went to them for my repairs and the next day I get told that "no one has the part for the fuel tank/sending unit" that I paid for next day air. Ok, this is plausable.

So the next day, I get a call at 2 from the service guy telling me they got the part and the car will be worked on today. I call at 5 asking when I can come to pick up my car. I drive down there, drop off my rental and then go to them... I wait for 45 minutes before the service guy tells me "That the technician was sent home early today and that my car didn't get worked on."

WTF? Why tell me to come down at 5pm if he didn't work on my car at all?

So I say whatever, go back to rental, get my car back (pay an extra day) and drive home.

Saturday I drive back drop off rental.

They bring my car up and I am looking funny at the tires and brakes.

I get on the road and halfway back to my work, the fuel guage starts going all over the place and the brakes are sqealing like a kettle of boiling water.

So I get to my work, get my companies mechanic to look over. Thats when I realized that the front tires were a DIFFERENT TIRE. I.e. they put on the wrong tires on the front. Why would you freaking put rain tires on the front of a car that has high performance tires on the rear is ****ing beyond me.

Also, the brakes are ripped to **** on their resurfacing job.

So, I call up performance service and I get told to leave a message after getting this a few times and no call backs I call back asking for whoever is in charge and I get some guy who says to come back and they will make things right.

So I drive back, (same day) and drop my car off. The service guy appologizes and says they will work on the car.

They put the wrong tires, ****ed the brakes up and didn't fix the fuel guage. (700 dollar part with 300 dollar labor, I might add).

So they were unable to get me repaird that day so they rented a rental for me. But instead of renting me a nice car they went el cheapo and rented the cheapest ****ing thing you could.

So, Tuesday they call me saying they got things straightened out. I drive back in the rental and pick up my car. Brakes still squeal horribly right tires are on, and they finally fixed the fuel guage.

It turns out theat the floater was stuck. (If anyone knows if the floater is separate from the sending unit, please let me know, if so they owe me $1k).

Thursday, I drove my car up to Pebble Beach for the car show, and got harrassed 3 times for "disturbing the peace" when driving home at night because the brakes were too loud. I mean there were ferraris and **** tearing up the street and the brakes were too ****ing loud.

So when I got back, I call up Stoptech and they told me to go to another shop. I took it to them, and they told me whoever did the resurfacing did just about the ****ties job you could.

What pisses me off the ****ing most is that I've bought 4 rims, 6 tires and a Stoptech front / rear brake kit from them, AND had it all installed by them, and this is ****ing how they treat me?

NEVER AGAIN will I take my car to performance. I will rely soley on the independent mechanic that services my companies fleet and the new performance guy I met who looked at my brakes.

Moreover, I urge all of you to never take your cars in to performance until they start acting competent.

Oh yeah, the rental guys informed me that Performance Nissan has new ownership and that this may or may not effect service.

really sucks Janus but I HOPE this your mess is due to the new ownership. I just had my oil changed this weekend and found out they don't use Castrol Synthetic Blend anymore like they always used on my Z. I was disappointed but still did my oil change...

They dropped the ball, and had a chance to show me how much they cared about my business and failed.

Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

For those of you who live in san diego, I know its way south of perf nissan -

just about every install/serivce that I can't/don't do myself I take my Z to this place in San Marcos (north county san diego) called import service specialists its a small place with like 3 bays and I believe they have another location in escondido, but they do great work and one of their head techs was a 300zx guy. I've been taking my nissans to them for years and most of the time the owner will check out your car if not do some of the work himself. Top quality operation they run down there. When my sister blew the engine on her 240sx the owner let her store it there for a couple weeks until she sold it and got a new car.

FYI -I take the Z to the local mossy nissan dealer for oil changes - they do it too fast and for under $30 including oil, nissan filter, and 14 point inspection/fluid top off it cant be beat.

I called last week to make an appt for a TPS recalibrate. I was told by Brian (on this forum) to talk to Javier or Tim. I called over to Perf and talked to Javier (Tim wasn't there) and this guy didn't know his *** from a hole in the ground. He tells me that with an appointment, I'd have to leave the car for at least 2 hours. I know that this is a 5 min job so I'm like WTF? He says it might be fast, but it might take a long time if everything doesn't go smoothly. I never let anyone work on my car. I don't care if it's an oil change or a supercharger install, no one works on my car but me.

I'm gonna call Tim when he gets back in on Tuesday and see if he can provide better service than this Javier person. There is no way I'm leaving my car with them. If I had access to the SST for the calibration, I'd just do it myself. Unfortunately, you can't do this without the Consult.

This thread doesnt surprise me too much. Performance Nissan was bought out a few months back and we are now under new ownership. We now have a new service director which is still adjusting to the ways we do things here. Because the dealership is now under new ownership, we are running on a completely different operating system. Javier was the service manager before but he has now been replaced. Tim was the go to guy but he no longer is because of some discrepencies within the company, Javier will be the new go to guy. Javier has been here longer than Tim and he used to be the old service manger so it kind of stumps me when I hear bad feedback about him. I know our service department still has improvements to be made but dont be discouraged to bring your car in for service at Performance. I think that one of the key points for improvements is that the guys in my department needs to get involved when any one of your cars are brought in for service, this way we can keep an eye on it and make sure the work is being properly done. Granted, we cant look after it the whole time it is here in service but we can walk back to the bays from time to time to make sure things are getting handled. If anyone here wants to bring in their car for service let me or Brian@Performance know so we can get you set up with the right service writer and that we know that your car is here. Sorry about all the bad experiences guys, hopefully we can get pass this and fix what needs to be fixed.

Ed- Why are you still using Castrol, gotta switch over to MOTUL! Pay for the oil seperately at the front counter, and we will get that oil to your tech that is doing the oil change so you dont have to worry about what kind of oil theyre using or if theyre using the oil that you brought yourself.

See what you can do for me then Andy. I need to get my TPS recalibrated, but don't wanna drop off the car for hours at end. I have been told by others who have come in to have the same thing done, that your service dept has done the calibration on the spot in about 5 mins and didn't charge for it. There has been more than one person who has mentioned it.

No worries, just give me a call. The TPMS should not take long at all. THanks.

Okay, I have spoken to Javier concerning your issue. The reason why Javier told you it was going to be 1-2 hour wait is because we had other cars prior to yours. Yes, the actual time of recalibrating the TPMS would only take 5 minutes or so but for us to actually get to your car was going to be about 1-2 hours. Javier did not want to promise something he knew that would not happen, that is why he told you that, that was the turn around time. Generally, if you schedule an appointment, it is better to schedule it as early as possible. The earlier you are here the earlier you will leave. As far as people not being charged for the recalibration, yes we have done this in the past but with customers that were getting other things installed at the same time and we did it as a courtesy. I am not sure what our service department charges just for the recalibration but I couldnt imagine it being too expensive. Give me a call or PM when you are free to bring down your car and we will work out the scheduling and pricing.

Andy, thanks for clearing a few itmes up.
I am still very much unclear on the Tim situation. Tim has been outstanding and has been the only service person period that I trust. Not only do I feel like an *** going in there and no longer asking for him I'm also not quite sure why not. I'm not asking to spill the beans on the internal affairs but what would take place if I come down there and ask for Tim to take care of my car?

Hey Tom,

I cant exactly say why but Tim will no longer be doing aftermarket installs. However, he can still do your regular scheduled maintenance like oil changes, trans fluid changes, diff fluid changes, etc. The only thing he is not doing is installs on high performance parts.

Thanks Andy next time I will bring my own oil but would that mean the oil change price would be cheaper then. I always use the coupons I get in the mail for 16.95 but if they price is the same even if I bring my oil that would not make sense right.....

Also Andy if I bring my own diff and tranny fluid how much will be the service...
