Just got into college (santa barbara), i need to find a good mechanic, and possibly a body shop. Anyone have recomendations?
I got a new bumper painted and installed at a body shop off of Fairview Avenue. (south side of freeway, up the street from McDonlads) I forget their name, but they did good work. Expensive tho.
Everything is expensive in SB. Dont, do not, go to the Nissan dealership. They're a bunch of thieves there

Everyone at sb nissan have been extremely helpful to me in both the purchase of the car and the work done on the car. The tech that works on z's is very knowledgeable as well. Do they charge some higher rates, sure at times. But you pay for quality work. Not to mention, if you know your stuff, you wont let yourself get ripped off. If they tell you an oil change is 70 bucks, you can come back with a positive assessment that it costs 40-50 everywhere else.
ohhh man prepare for some crazy parties!!! i forget the name but there is one street where it is all college houses and all they have is parties.. the streets are filled with people on the weekend, its awsome!!! have fun

Acutally it was the rear bumper. Painted and installed was a little over a grand. I didn't pay for it, my insurance did, so I really didn't care if it was high. It also included the costs of a new bumper, so take off about 300 or so.
As far as the SB dealership being friendly and helpful, BS in my experience.
They overcharge, and their excuse? We're in Santa Barbara, so we need to stay competitive with everyone else, so we charge higher.
When I heard that, I laughed and told the guy, aren't you suppose to offer the same service as everyone else, but a little cheaper to stay competitive? With no response.
When the quoted me a grand to install my Hotchkis springs and sways, I vomited a little in my mouth and left.
