Default Fumy question

i run test pipes in my car and i love the power and its great (i wish the raspiness could be toned down a bit but what the hell) been next to cops etc i would be at a higher gear but yeah its hella FUMY or however you spell it, which i know is inevitable, and i usually drive with my windows down and i can smell that sh*t more now everytime im at a light or in traffic, and since its cold enough dont want to turn on AC but when i just use regular air in the winter i can smell it too

i dont want to take out my test pipes but dunno any suggestions ? (btw i have a nismo cat back on should i just throw my stock muffler on do you think it would reduce the fumes?)

i have the same problem. but that was the risk i was willing to take when i put the TPs on. I am still running the stock exhaust, and the rasp isnt present until I go WOT or go past 3k rpms. I don't know a fix to this but I too would like to know. I bet a lot of people are going to say, "GET HFC's".

you will find mixed feelings about the HFC's. They supposedly give you about 5-6 whp but no one one here has ever dyno'ed that claim. TP's definately give you more power than HFC's and also cost less but then you have to live with the rasp and smell. I personally like the HFC's but the power to $ ratio sucks

How bad is the smell everyone experiences from TPs? I have stock cats and at WOT mine stink pretty bad, like a struck match, very strong sulphur odor. I'm wondering if maybe mine are fouled from the oil consumption probs I'm having.

I don't think the word "fumy" exists. I think it's just fumes.

i ran a catless downpipe on my srt and the smell of fumes was pretty bad. i just recirculated the air when it was cold out and i had to drive with the windows up, so that solved the incabin smell. but thats pretty obvious. if you havent done so, try it.

with the Z its kind of strange with the AC and recycle button its either one or the other, not like the old school hondas where you can just touch the recycle or recirculation or at least with mines it is :P

supratt97 saw the pics of your car yesterday it looked good so far

Test pipes of course will always have that smell. Today's standards are pretty high and the OEM cats that come on sports cars are pretty efficient, so I do not see the HFC's being cost efficient nor have they proven to be a huge gain on our Z's.

Thanks, but I need to paint it. I'm still contemplating a varis duct on the v2. It would look pretty sick.

i noticed a big increase in emissions smell when i threw on my cat deletes (TPs).
i can even smell the fumes on the clothes after a god drive, and sore throat once or twice. the only thing Id worry about is carbon monoxide poisoning.
its a silent killer.
