hi all---
so another forum member, ralph, and i, scouted a new route this past sunday for a san gabriel mountain/angeles crest run/cruise.
we'd meet off the osborne exit off the 210 west [from la crescenta] and head up osborne, which turns into little tujunga canyon road, which is a BLAST to drive..crazy curves, whatnot. we would definitely have to be careful and stay far enough behind one another--there were a couple spots where someone could definitely eat sh-t.
there's a very small picnic area we can stop at to enjoy the view and take some pics. from there, little tujunga turns into sand canyon, and runs through a residential area of canyon country, by the robinson ranch golf club. there's an In n Out there [yaayyyy!] which would be a perfect place for lunching.
from there we'd hook a right onto soledad canyon, right past the antelope valley freeway [highway 14] and cruise down that all the way to angeles forest highway. soledad is a NICE cruise... pretty mild, no crazy curves or anything, flat, mirrored by a railroad track, you'd be able to spot a cop from a mile away.
from angeles forest highway we can either take angeles crest [highway 2] or big tujunga canyon road, back down to the city.

alright i know there's a grip of stuff going on all spring.. if you're interested please sign up [put your real name too!] and state a date or a day [saturday or sunday] that would work for you. we'd probably meet around 9am.

Good luck! We all got rolled two weeks ago up there. The CHP are all business up there now.

 

hmm well, the only cop we saw was on the way back down highway 2 to la canada...about a mile or two up from the city, right by that big radar-speed-reading sign. other than that the whole route was completely clear.

 

hey i dont talk smack.... i'm quite proud of my crazy z brethren and whatever insane things they choose to do to their cars [secret exhaust methods, anyone?]

 

BTW, the roads are DIRTY. Plan on getting some rock chips. Another reason why I'd rather do a cruise locally than up at Angeles.

You are always so negative in your posts. If you don't want to go, then don't go. You can get tickets and rock chips basically anywhere, so that shouldn't dissuade anyone from going.

what up DIRTY and arod (totally forgot your guys' names), but i was with you guys at the D&B hang out a few weekends ago. that was a nice little cruise we went on (except for arod driving all CRAZY....LOL, jk).

but yea, i'm down for this...saturday or sunday is cool for me. maybe just a week or two notice would be good enough for me.

Totally agree with you on that man. Especially with the scattered showers that just happened. Not to mention that on the news it said with the onshore flow there's a chance of rain.


If you guys insist on going try to group the slow in the back and the fast in the front. Keep in mind that any of you that are pushing you cars up there to give each other ample room. Radios help too. For the cop thing yes there are days that they aren't there, but the way the catch you is time you somewhere at the bottom and another will check your time again at a random section. If you get there a little to quick then say hello to a ticket.

By no means am I detering any of you going. Just giving some friendly advice from past personal experince. Have fun and be safe.
