Default thinking might trade in my 05base for an 07 grand touring!!!...

so i've had my z for about 6months now... its an 05 base, silverstone with clear bra, oem spoiler, oem chrome grill, and i just passed 13,xxx miles on it.

went by nissan of orange thursday to talk to them and see if they could get what i asked for....an 07 silverstone grand touring (yeah i know i effed up earlier).

so funny the salesman didnt even know what that was....he was like, is that the fully loaded one?

now the pros and cons

pros
better wheels
brakes
headlights
tail lights
nav
bose stereo
is it leather instead of cloth?
better lsd too right?

cons
more money
haha guess thats it.

should i stick with my base model or trade up??

any feed back would be greatly appreciated!

and i can take some constructive critcism

thanks

-Justin

Yeah...the track was deleted this year which is sad bc that is what I wanted. Hopefully they'll bring it back for the 09 redesign...

You'll have to settle for GT, which is a waste IMO...well for me it is bc of the crappy Bose thats gonna be replaced by me anyhow and the leather seats, which I don't care for...

what about the other options that might be worth while since i'm moving from an 05 base?

would it be worth the price jump?

Well your coming from a base model...so it just depends on what you like. Whether its worth it is purely up to you. If you want leather, navigation, Bose stereo....than the touring model is what you want. You get everything but the lightweight rims and the Brembo brakes. If you want the rims and brakes along with all the other options than the GT is for you.

The best value of the bunch is easily the Enthusiast version and is what most people tend to go for.

Enthu owner right here.
Very happy with it. Mines a 06' though.
Have fun paying for the maintenance on Brembo's if you get the GT.

Maintenance isn't that bad on the Brembos really. I had a G35 coupe with them. It'll only be bad if you track your car in which case any set of brakes can get expensive. The rotors are a bit more expensive but not enough to call it high maintenance...

The stock brake setup from 06 up is better. They gave us larger diameter rotors and overall the feel is just better. I also had an 04 Z so I'm comparing it to that.

The only real advantage to have the Brembos is if you track your car and need to make repeated aggressive stops. The Brembos will handle heat better and create less fade...but if you don't track your car this is a non-issue and you'll more than likely never notice a difference.

i have both enthusiast and the touring, and touring clearly blows away the enthusiast. I'm spoiled by stupid stuff like, seated seats and they're leather. bose stereo of touring isn't all that great, but enthusiast sterero is horrible. I don't think enthusiast comes with heated mirror, either. definitely worth it.

I went from an '05 base to an '06 track. If your car is currently stock, then it will be like a night and day difference. I also got an improved engine and rays wheels, but the change will be even more dramatic in your case. The upgrade really is worth the price, but if you've already modded your car some, then I wouldn't bother.

The GT is the pretty much the same as the track, but it adds leather, bose and the option of nav. The leather is really the biggest difference between the two.
