does anybody remember this radio station? a lot of clubs in OC used to have KNAC nights full of half naked chicks and so forth.. anything similar around these days?

 

DUDE I loved that station, I used to have a KNAC pure rock shirt, I loved that thing, Have no Idea where it went, and cry myself to sleep knowing I dont have it anymore. KNAC RIP!

It's been a long time. They used to be 105.5 which turned into a spanish station.

 

I remember that station. Back in the day, my high school chums and myself used to grab a bunch of those black vinyl bumper stickers from the local Music Plus record store. Also, I have vivid memories of watching college bowl games at my mechanic's house. He played 105.5 FM constantly when he had us over and there was always a fridge dedicated to beers. He was the typical KNAC listener. He was a stoner Volvo mechanic with one of those Knight of King Arthur's Court haircuts (short and cut straight across in the front and straight and long everywhere else) with a matching moustache. It's like the Medieval Times look. He was a character and I liked his music and hospitality but he played it too loud and all the time... He must have had something like 8 or 9 different bongs in his garage.



I also remember before those days when 105.5 KNAC was a pioneering independent New Wave/Alternative music station. I believe this was possibly even before 106.7 KROQ. KNAC used to play bands like XTC, The Clash, The Jam, Iggy & The Stooges, The Selecter, Minutemen, The English Beat, The Specials, etc.-way back in the day.

 

I knew a bunch of DJs from that station, lol.. anybody remember, Australian Beach Club, Marquee on wedesday ($1 bottle beer).. Mazatti's (however you spell it) in huntinton beach
