Default Calling All Socal Experts!

hey guys,

i'm from san jose and my gf and i are gonna go to socal for our 5 year. she really wants to go universal hollywood. we're gonna be there for few days. any really awe inspiring attractions or recreational things you guys suggest?

in all seriousness, i want to do something fun, memorable with her and not too expensive. we might roam hollywood as we've both never seen the "hollywood stars." i know those are cliche places which makes us very touristy, but any other suggestions? Thanks for the input guys. I want to make it fun for her.

make reservations to the Griffith Observatory. they just re-opened it after renovations. nice view...has the romantic quality you want. just up the hill from where the "walk of fame" stars and the grauman's chinese theater are (actually i think their shuttle picks ou up from there). check out the website. you can probably do a nice dinner in the area and go up or vice versa.

Like Quan said, Rodeo Drive (Beverly Hills), Melrose (shopping, LA), 3rd & Promenade (Santa Monica, shopping), Sunset Strip (W/Hollywood, dinner/dancing), City Walk at Universal City. I would even take a drive up to Mulholland Dr and check out the big homes. Good luck.

a. $1 billion Getty museum

b. Westin Bonaventure Hotel(360-degree view of the city from the 34th floor at BonaVista Lounge) in Downtown LA

c. Shoreline Village in Downtown Long Beach

Before heading home, go over to Malibu and take Hwy 1 North. Beautiful sweeping views and the drive is great though not terribly long. Up around Port Huenme / Camarillo, you can cut back east to the 101 FWY and make your way back to the 5.

And if you must see Hollywood, go while it's daylight, before the vampires come out.

There are several very impressive museums in the L.A. area. Not likely to be forgotten.
