Default So my "courtesy notice" finally came...

So I got a ticket a few weeks back for speeding and "illegally" modified exhaust. My courtesy notice arrived in the mail today, and the fine it's asking me to pay is an option of $202 for traffic school, OR $236 for the bail amount. It says this on the top and on the bottom. And in the statement it just explains that I may be eligible for the traffic school option and how it may keep my insurance rates down, etc. Now my question is, where is my exhaust violation fine? Does that come in a separate "courtesy notice"? It doesn't mention anything about my exhaust citation in this notice, even when both my speeding and exhaust violations are on the same ticket. I'm confused. Anyone who has gotten an exhaust ticket before should hopefully be able to shed some light. Thanks.

USN HM, the exhaust ticket was just for the "illegally modified exhaust" violation, in which he told me it was modified and was "too loud". I kindly told him on the spot that my exhaust met CA rules and regulations, and it was below 95 db, and he just stood there for a few seconds looking stupid, then told me to to take it up with the inspection ref or the judge.

So on the ticket, there are two citations. One for speeding, 65 in a 55, and the second one right under it, for the exhaust violation mentioned above. Both citations are marked as "non-correctable" violations.

Now that it has been a few weeks, I have received my "courtesy notice" in the mail, which tells me how much I have to pay, etc. The part that is confusing me is, my courtesy notice doesn't mention anything about my exhaust ticket. It just has a page long statement about me having an option to pay the bail for the ticket, or take traffic school. I looked, and it has the correct ticket # on there. Both my speeding and exhaust violations are on the same ticket. So for those who have gotten a speeding ticket + another violation on the same ticket, do you get a separate "courtesy notice" in the mail for each other violation? Because This one I just received seems to only relate to my speeding violation.

I had a ticket for 47 in a 35, illegally modified exhaust and no front plate. My notice had all three items on it.

Hmm.. Could it be possible that the officer later went back to the station, and crossed out my exhaust violation on the ticket before turning it in? I told him it was CA legal. But he didn't seem to care when he was writing me the ticket.

On my courtesy notice it just tells me to pay the $202 amount for traffic school, OR pay the $236 amount for bail. And just talks about how I may be eligible for traffic school and keep my insurance down. It doesn't mention anything about exhaust or anything like that on the notice.

+1 words on paper are pretty powerful. Works for me. Good luck steve.

p.s. both tickets should have been in the same notice. But i'd check online or at the court anyway.

looked like he might have messed up on writing the exhaust violation since he wrote it as "non-correctable". If there are any mistakes in you ticket, you could have a chance to get it all dropped. I lost count of how many time this has happened to me because my last name gets miss spelled most of the time.

Your notice should have the exhaust violation on it, otherwise, its probably been dropped.

Hmm, I guess I'll call the police station tomorrow. Anything specific I should ask? I'm planning on just talking to the operator and giving them my ticket #, and asking them what charges I currently have on the ticket.

It happened to me here twice because, the first one the CHP miss spelled my last name and the 2nd time he put 2 letters backwards from the plate backwards.

When I was station in South Carolina I got a ticket dropped just because she couldn't say my last name right.

UPDATE:

So I called the local Irvine police department. They transferred me to records, and the operator pulled up my ticket. She said both citations are on there, speeding and the exhaust violation. So apparently the cop turned the ticket in with both citations on the ticket. So I asked the operator about my courtesy notice not mentioning my exhaust violation anywhere, and she told me the courtesy notice is all from the court, so she doesn't know anything about those. I guess I should call the court next.
