Why are "In Memory Of..." stickers so popular here?

I rock a different stick. Look at the red stick on my avatar. Hiro stick with my buddies name in remembrance.

yes they are a bit popular in socal, too many "thugs" gettin shot from what I keep seeing...
BUT they are MUCH MUCH better than those stupid family ones with all 9 f******children and the dog and cat... as someone already mentioned.
I think people shouldnt have that many kids anyways... maybe those stickers help them keep track of their names or remember to do a roll call before all the kids get into the car so they don't forget one of them!

Nobody on the road knows who the person is, so why advertise it?
Best example, if any of you are familiar with the MMA world( mixed martial arts ) we tragically just lost a great guy Jeremy Williams this past month, leaving behind a wife and kid and another one the way. He actually was my teacher for quite some time and effected me in so many positive ways. Sooooo many people around the world new this guy and people who never even met the guy were effected around the globe. He was a guy who helped MMA get to where it is today and represented/owned one of the best schools in Cali "Apex". Maybe its just around OC, but everyone knows everyone... between school, sports, partying etc. At 21 years old, I have more connections and friends then I know what to do with. Often times its like one big extended family. Maybe at an older age, when Im not in constant contact with all these people growing up etc I will think like you, who knows.

what about people who still have the number "3" from dale earnhardt... he died like 5 years ago, but that I can understand, he is an icon, like all those people who still wear tupac shirts

John -- I am getting stickers in gold metallic with neon-green rhinestone writing that say, "Korki Buchek: I came, I didn't see, I crashed." You have to rock one, they'll be fantastic.
I have never taken part in the "In Loving Memory" or "RIP" shirts, stickers, etc. It's not really my scene. But I don't have any problem with people that do. However you want to show your respect/grief is your business. Plus I can't see the stickers.
I still have a Biggie Smalls poster.

My friends that have died are more heroes to me then any Nascar driver can ever be.

I agree one's accomplishment that was well advertise does not mean one that died in private didn't do greater things. People idolizing someone famous that died is not the same as having a friend or family die.
Those who sport stickers - what's your background? Are you religious? Big families? Just curious how the environment plays into the equation if at all...
Sign me up - I'll put it on my mountain bike.

More power to those who put rememberence stickers on their rides
But no love for those HUGE family stickers tho.... those get annoying, same with RAIDERS stickers and emblems!!!!! Do people not realize that they had the WORST RECORD IN THE NFL LAST YEAR!!!!!
If it's for YOU to remember your loved ones, put it on the inside of the car.... you can't see it when it's mounted on the back window.
I can see someone wanting to remember a lost loved one, but putting a sticker on your car is not so that you can remember, it's so you can show other people you lost someone.

But the whole Raider Nation and tatoos and car decals with Raider logos I think is just a bunch of people "Joining the bandwagon" none of them actually like the team.... I'll root for a "decent" California team like the Chargers haha GO LT!!!
My Favorite player is Randy Moss, pissed me off when he left Minnesota... I really liked the Vikings.

You see them around town and its just a constant reminder that we will not forget a person that has made a positive impact on our lives. If you don't like it then great, I understand your intitled to your own opinion... but i recommend you keep it to yourself. Maybe im just a little touchy since this issue hits close to home .... Have some respect.
To those that think it is irritating, get over it- it's not a big deal. You don't like it, look somewhere else.
