Default just called west covina nissan....

i have the 06 revup oil consumption... already did my consumption tests at westco nissan and they verified i am eating oil. but they said nissan HQ has put a stop on replacing motors for now because people who have got their motors replaced are still having the same consumption problems. well i gave the service dept a call to see if there is a TSB that is going to be out for this, the service guy i talked to said there will be a TSB next month and more than likely i am going to get a new redesigned motor? anyone know about this?

hey Ben, it's Dan
I also have the 06 oil consumption problem.
I talked to Jeff on the phone on Friday and he told me the exact same thing:
a new motor will be coming out the end of this month/early next month and that nissan guarantees it will not consume oil.
I still need to begin the oil consumption test though.
sucks that this is happening to most of us 06'ers

From what we understand, the new engine will have CAST piston rings??? If anyone has more info than that, I would love to find out. We are still replacing engines in extreme cases where waiting is not an option.
Thanks!

Default I going through massive test so far at AV Nissan

Aren21 (hey man!),

I failed my first round on oil consumption. Now they have me going through wet compression, dry compression, leak down, crank pressure tests etc... justified by 'this is needed by Nissan Corp'. Supposed to be over tomorrow will keep you posted on the results.

Hey man hows it going....how come you failed, it wasnt burning enough or something? I havent bothered taking in my car ever since I heard about people getting replacement engines that still burned oil. Figured Ill wait untill the genius's come with a fix...then Ill take her in. But let us know what happens with the testing...good luck!!!

No, this fail was GOOD! Was burning (that test was 1 3/4qt per 1300mi driven). If you are burning get it in and test and certified as a burner. Otherwise, I feel that Nissan will be ignoring the others that just don't do or say anything!

Oh you failed in that way..I see. The thing is last time I checked it olny burned about 1/2 quart in 3k miles. Thats no where near the amount you or many others have been burning. One thing I noticed is the amount of consumption is decreasing as I put more miles on it. Im at 23k now, and its barely burning anything compared to before. How many miles are on your car??

Wasted my time going to Universal Nissan off the 101 with the oil consumption test. I went back the first time and it was 2qts low (1000miles). Second time it was 1.5qts low (900miles) and the third time was about the same (800miles). After all was said and done, I thought I was going to get a new engine put in but after the third time, they asked me for receipts and paperwork of all oil changes that were done to the car since day one (impossible since I bought it used). @#$% that. Once the new engine is out, I'll be going to WCN for another consumption test where I know it'll get taken care of. WCN ftw.

I got 30,260 currently. That's why I need to get this fixed ASAP. I'll be out of regular warrenty before you know it. I'm glad you're not having too bad a problem. But if it was up to me, your engine would get changed out too.

Your next stop before WCN is BBB. Although, I think WCN will take care of you.
