can someone explain to me why this car has two brake calipers or does it just appear that way in the picture? i'm really curious...seems like an interesting concept.

The small one is for the parking brake.

stop tech has a parking brake caliper available...

there are actually 2 versions of the 13" rear brake kit for the Z, one for with OE Drum eBrake, and the other for without... you can either use blocks when at the track, or have the 2nd caliper fabricated.

its not a fisheye (not a true 180 degree angle)
