What are the best drives in SoCal?
I've done Malibu, Angeles Crest Highway, 33 (Ojai) and as far south as Palomar on my motorbike, but I am looking for longer drives in SoCal (possibly 2 day drives).
Anyone have good picks on fun roads (San Luis Obispo and south?).

I liked going to Julian.
Julian/Ortega Hwy huh? OK, I'll check it out. I think I missed those with my bike...
I've done PCH north of Cambria twice and that was great. A little slow going on the 2 lanes at times, but very scenic.
I'm looking to do a 2-day drive/loop between here and SLO with a friend or two. Trying to maximize twisty roads and minimize freeways - in the beginning stages of planning, really
. If anyone else is game, let me know. I'm thinking late August...1 night in a hotel, tons of great driving and maybe even some good food along the way

We used to do these kinds of trips all the time when I had my bike. Cheap, tons of fun, you get to see whole bunch of new scenery and it's right here, not far away. I could easily see 4-6 cars doing this. Saturday/Sunday.
My two friends from SF with a 330i and Porsche 996 and a friend here with an M3 are game. SLO is about where we're thinking of starting the drive. Could be super fun.

I agree. I love 2 day road trips.

Here's a great site (motorcycle site) - tons of rides, photos, etc. Might have to join to see all of it.

Just a few photos I pulled from that thread:

Avoid Ortega Hwy. I commute it every day and it's got construction going on until 2010. They have a stopping point where they cut it down to 1 lane (not in each direction, 1 lane total) and they're flagging traffic through, it really screws with the ability to have fun on that road.
Yosemite and Sequoya National Parks are both great and you could go to Sequoya first then Yosemite and then do Lake Tahoe all on the smae stretch heading north, then you could either head East and do Death Valley into Vegas and take the 15 back at a nice clip or head west and take the PCH all the way back home. That should take 2 days, cover 1/2 of California and see a bunch of cool **** while driving on awesome roads.
Next Month our annual several day road trip will be taking us either to Oregon or Montana, anyone else been to either? Any reccomendations, suggestions or advice?

You seem to have the best roads in socal covered. Not sure what roads you covered in ojai, but in and around that area, there's a full day of driving that awaits you if you're so inclined.

I could be wrong, but, I don't think SoCal has any fun to drives that takes 2 actual days. Canyons = Fun.
One of these days, I'll stitch up Palomar, Julian, Idyllwild, Big Bear, Angeles Crest, Mt. Baldy, and Malibu areas just see how long it takes to do all of em at the same time.
