To many rabbits in Irvine
Today I had a big surprise waiting for me in my Z. As I was heading to school (Riverside) from my house (Irvine), I decided to check on my fluid levels and to see if my air filter was clean. I pull into my local Mobil gas station parking lot and popped the hood. I see that everything is ok, but there is something fuzzy sitting right next to the engine on top of the underbody tray. I take my sunglasses off and see that it's a small rabbit.
First thing I did was grab a stick to see if it was dead or alive, and sure enough it was still moving. I call AAA to see if they can do anything about it, and the guy they sent said usually they deal with dead animals stuck in engine bays, not animals that are alive. So he calls up animal control and they arrive to take care of the problem. She puts her hand inside to reach for it and pushes it out of the bottom, and the small rabbit runs away.
The funny thing is, I drove to Blockbuster to return some movies, then to the bank to deposit a check, and finally to a small park to meet up with some friends for a smoke before going to the gas station.
Just thought I'd share my little story with all of you.

Irvine used to be infested with rats 10 years back in addition to rabbits. UCI custodians used to chase after them in the middle of the day during class.
They had some issues with professional exterminators shooting the rabbits with pellet guns that became somewhat controversial for a bit. Gosh I miss college and all the hot girls around.

I thought it was a story about Irvine having too many VW Rabbits, with which I would have to agree. This is the first that I've heard of too many "actual" rabbits. LOL
