Its not looking good. I keep hearing reports of houses around mine burning, but there are no fire fighters in the area, so its just going from house to house now. The fire department simple adds the houses to its list and will get to it when they can.

Our address was not listed on the last crawler on the news, but the road I drove down to get out of my neighborhood (the one with the flaming palm tree) has been leveled. At least nine houses on that street alone are gone.

Its the not knowing that is killing me. If I knew my house was a smoking pile I could be planning what to do next, but having to sit and do nothing and just waiting is so very hard.

arrrggg...

Damn man, keeping my fingers crossed for you. I've got friends in Poway that are being evac'd, and OC is a mess today. If the Santiago fire heads 10 mi south, I'm burned out myself.

Dave (wonders how he can help the firefighters... bring food? water? gatorades?)

Thanks for the advice.

The fire dept did a great job of holding the fire off and knocking down the worst of it in this area. Things are a lot better here. However, the fire has moved further to the south east and the helicopters are making drops.

Good luck with your home.

I'm hearing Rancho Bernardo and Poway are getting crushed...

I'm at UCSD, hasn't gotten near us yet but the air is getting so bad, I wanna go home to LA. Some say that the fire is spreading to the coast, southbound 5 might even be closing soon.

Anything you guys know?

Good luck to you. I'm on the border of RB and Poway and the fire is about 2.5 miles away. I left earlier today and then came back to get my G.
The winds are mad crazy!

It's sucking. And what's worse of all, is hearing that one fire may have been 'set'. What the hell?

Many people from Temecula couldn't make it in to work today cuz 30 min down the road to Downtown, they got turned around. And one dude just bought his home there about 3 mos ago.

Just want to see if this works. I mapped out the known structure fires near me, and my house (using google maps). You can see my concern:

my house is the yellow icon (assuming its still there)

Yep, it's depressing. If that's true, they should string the guy(s) up by their left beanbag.

Where did you end up going? I'm in Scripps Ranch and they ordered a mandatory evac a couple hours ago, but I'm still here. Lots of neighbors are still here as well. Skies are still blue for me, but I can see some gray smoke in the distance, North of Poway. I've got my clothes packed and ready, but that's about all my car has room for. If it gets past Poway, I'll probably be heading out to the Stadium.

I am at my father's place in San Carlos. Safe for now, but I just saw something on the news about destroyed homes on Mt Helix. I really don't want to evacuate again!!! Unfortunatly, his house is packed up because he was planning on moving next week to... guess where? ... Rancho Bernardo. Assuming his new place is still there.

I'm just going to have a few beers and try not to think about it.

Alright, I'm heading back home... Good luck Alang, my ex is in your neck of the woods and she got evac'd too... Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

Dave (hopes your house gets a nice water dump from a chopper and doesn't get hit)

Damn man, sorry to hear that.

I am waiting to hear an evacuation notice for where I am at. They just closed off and barricaded the 94 down the road from me.

Hope everything turns out alright for you.
