Default fuken cone in the middle of 110

about 3:30am i was driving home and tryin to go through the 110 to the 5 then to the 2 which leads to the 818, then i find out the left lane on the 110 that goes to the 5n is blocked off because of construction or watever and so theres cones on that lane to block ne1 to get on. so i decided to go straight onto the 110 cause that was the only way and then i see a cone right in front of me on the freeway. i ran over the cone and my car started to make some funny noise so i pulled over. i took a look at my car and my front bumper is all fuked up and i see fluids dripping from my engine. some how the cone was stuck between my wheels and i managed to take it out and hoped to make it back to my house. the good thing is i made it safely to my house but my car is messed up and smoking. i called the police department to see what i can do but hey just told me to call the chp and make a complaint and to call my insurance company. anyone here have any other suggestions to what i should do?

I just went to a local auto repair shop near my house today to get an estimate.
this is the damage the cone did:

front bumper cover
radiator hose is broken
broke ac condensor and radiator
radiator shroud
2 belts
radiator assembly
front radiator support
left inner fender cover
engine cover

$2200 for parts
$1300 for labor

sorry to hear bro, bad trip... i hate when they close the freeways especially at night although they did road construction yesterday on the 110 in the morning = hella traffic

as for your situation, i mean its hard to put the blame where the cone came from, cal trans, construction or it can even have just fallen off some dood's truck

insurance should handle it just take pics of it and i mean it shouldnt go up... ..

I've seen experienced the same thing before off the 10 freeway. Good thing I wasn't in the Z when I had to dodge a few things on the road. BTW, what was dripping when you pulled out the cone?

Damn sorry to hear that....

the same s***t happened to my bro. His Z is supercharged and the damn cone messed up his whole setup and his front bumper. He tried to go through insurance but the insurance company was being dumb.

Still this day his supercharger hasn't ran the right way ever since that dumb cone.

hopefully yours will treat you right.

I feel your pain. I hit a blown truck tire tread on the freeway. My damage wasnt as extensive but it was still pretty bad. Something so stupid causes so much damage.

car insurance bro. They will send subrogation against the construction company (to get your deductible back) I do it for people all the time.

I hit a cone before too....the bottom of those things are killer.

Not the most honest thing, but when you call your insurance company, you can say that you hit "moving" debris. The key is to state that it was moving or falling or something along those lines.

That way you just pay your comprehensive with no impact on your premium.

sorry to hear, but scary the Z is that weak. Kinda creepy in a way atleast for me. Ive hit a truck tire that launched my old car up in the air while doing 65. No damage at all. Add some dragging parts all of which snapped right back on when I pulled over. Hit a few other things with my parents car and my truck all of which incurred no damage.

So the question I have, was the car lowered.

Do not get me wrong not insulting or saying other cars are better. Just wondering why the Z cant take a cone. If it was lowered I can kinda see that. I wish ya luck with getting money back from the state, but don't bet on it :/

While driving the Z, I've run over a truck tire and some metal debris without damaging anything. The truck tire just left scuffs and the metal debris just rattled underneath the car.

The bottom of a cone is pretty solid and while on it's side, it sticks up pretty high. If the cone was right side up, you could probably run over it without too much trouble.

Read my post above....you still have to pay your comprehensive, but assuming it's $1K or less, it's still less than your estimate. Premium stays the same too.
