PLANNING COMMISSION TO HOLD SPECIAL MEETING ON JANUARY 10th 2008

While the City of Banning considers the Drag City project dead. The Planning Commission has set this matter to be discussed at a revocation hearing in order to afford the Drag City project any due process rights which is entitled under the Code or the laws of the State of California or the United States. The hearing will take place at a special meeting of the Planing Commission of the City of Banning to be held at 6:30pm on January 10, 2008 at the City Council Chambers in the Banning City hall located at 99 East Ramsey Street.

At the revocation hearing, the City will present evidence as to the expiration of the UUP and will request that the Planning Commission formally revoke the UUP, which revocation will have the effect of also terminating the DA. Upon completion of the City's presentation, Drag City will have the opportunity to submit evidence and arguments on it's own behalf. The Public is also allowed to speak on the issue as well and are invited to comment on the matter. This is your chance to make a difference! Let others know that if they want a weekly drag strip to keep kids off the street in Southern California then they should BE THERE! Tell Racers,Tell the Media, Tell Celebrities, Tell Everyone!

Thank You!

DRAG CITY IS FIGHTING BACK!!!!!! (10/25/2007)

To the racers and our supporters:

We are fighting back and already have Banning City Council members reconsidering their vote this past week to "terminate the master agreement" to build Drag City.

As you may or may not know we went through a tough time with an "investment group" that promised the world to us and the city of Banning. They didn't produce the cash necessary in their 3 years time at the helm.

However, we did gain 100% control of our company back and now have the leverage of land (that tripled in value) to offset the cost of construction, putting us in a better position then ever to build.

The city became gun-shy after the "investment group" left a bad taste in their mouth last month. We tried and succeeded in acquiring the investments group's LLC Company, master agreement with the city and its land just 2 weeks ago. But because the damage was done, the city didn't want to continue this past Oct. 23rd.

There is still hope! We have a plan to reverse that decision with a possible lawsuit and the power of masses through an email petition.

If you love this sport and want a weekly place to race in Southern California... make a difference and let the city of Banning know by signing the following petition.

Please fill out all the required fields of the petition to make it legal. Thank You for your support. It's not over yet!

Drag City will became the much-needed answer to the illegal racing that has plagued Southern California for the past several years now. This track was really born out of a necessity for a place to racecars legally. Street racing is a well-documented problem the news media and movies have brought to the public's attention. Drag City solves all these problems by being a permanent facility that has a professionally prepared surface to race on and bright lights for night racing. In essence, it is the only true solution to Illegal Street Racing in Southern California. However, Drag City has even more to offer. It offers a home to all those other racers who are considered amateurs, semi-professional, and professional drag racers too. The track is a racer's track where all types of racecars are welcomed and not singled out.

While the facility will provide many diverse racing programs and special promotions, its main role will be to provide fun, affordable family entertainment that will attract many new visitors to the facility and community every year. It is expected that the Drag City facility will have a thirty-five million dollar ($35,000,000) economic impact on the local economies, not to mention that our local streets will be much safer.

The racetrack will become a new source of pride for the City of Banning and Southern California.

I'm sure it's a great idea, but since when has opening a drag strip slowed down street racing? It never has... As long as kids get their hands on cars street racing will go on.

And even if a facility such as this is built there are already several in so cal, and it's not going to replace the rush an 18yr old feels when he breaks the law by street racing. Or that 20 something moron who thinks racing other people heads-up on the blvd gives him more street-cred and makes him look more hardcore to his friends and peers. Not to mention the money he's been making on bets.

If anything, it'll just be another place for these wastes of sperm to go race and go right back out onto the street and do the same thing. I mean why not? On the street it's free, and with their "it'll never happen to me" or "F it" (The consequences do not seem to register in their minds. e.g. fines, arrest, death) attitude it's an inevitability.

There have been numerous programs created to try and curb street racing by involving the local drag strip and law enforcement. And frankly, all have been less than a blip on the radar for most teens and young adults.

So lets call out what it's really about. It's money, lots of it... It's a chance to be the next stop on the NHRA circuit, it's a chance to earn millions in sponsors, title sponsors, etc. The whole, keep kids off the streets guise is just a small tacky pitty angle they're playing to make it seem like there's actually a noble motive behind all this.

Besides drag is dead, DRIFTING POR VIDA ESE!

How about both at the same time, whoever survives to the finish line wins. It might give drifting the racing element it's missing instead of the judged dog and pony show, and drag racing the excitement it needs, replacing straight line boredom with brutal sideways crashes.

JANUARY 10th PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING CANCELED BY CITY!

In an interesting and unusual turn of events Drag City was contacted by the City of Banning’s Community Development Director, Oscar Orci, Sunday evening at 6:23pm on January 6, 2008. He stated that the upcoming Planning Commission Meeting of January 10th was CANCELED due to a clerical error by the City to notify the public of this meeting. We let him know that we thought this was rather odd, since I received a letter from him back on December 12, 2007, which stated the date and time of this meeting. According to a local newspaper reporter, at the last Planning Commission Meeting on January 2nd, which was televised, it was announced to the public that a special meeting was to take place regarding Drag City on the 10th. What does all of this mean? Your guess is as good as ours. Maybe, they realize that the public will want to attend this meeting in large numbers and are just now becoming aware of the almost 1,000 online signatures of support by the public to have the City reconsider the action that the City Council took in canceling the drag strip, that is so desperately needed in our community.

We are aware by the many emails and phone calls that many of you were planning on attending this public hearing that has now been CANCELED. We will update you with the new date that this hearing will take place on, when the city lets us know. Please continue visiting our web site for the latest updates. And thank you for your support, the fact that they canceled the meeting makes us feel that THE POWER OF THE PEOPLE is being heard.
