Default SoCal Rain, Hurt My Car

kind of long.

Last night i was heading over to a friends house and I knew I should have not been driving in these conditions but stubborn me, i drove anyways. It was raining really hard and puddles of water were everywhere, half the ground had tons of water on it.
anyways as i was going through an intersection there was a BIG puddle, but it did not look deep at all, looked like a regular puddle, anyways i was driving through it, it was too deep and i have a long ram intake and water went into the intake and i got to much water in my engine. My car totally shut off in the middle of this intersection! I could not start it all! i open the door and the puddle is almost reaching to my door! had to take off my shoes and roll my jeans and push the z out of the puddle!!
i got it to the side and needed some assistance but did not want a tow truck to come and get me out because the money wouldve been a *****, i ended up getting a freind with a "big truck" to pull me out and take me to a safe place..

the next day due to all of this, my engine would not turn on, but gave it another try earlier and it turned on thank god . but when i turn on my car and rev it / drive it , it makes a horrible rattling noise and whining noise and i cant seem to figure it out or where its coming from! i will post a video later on how it sounds.. never driving my z out in the bad rain/ weather conditions again!

You hydrolocked your motor and probably bent the internals.

you fcked your motor, shoulda got a bypass valve or stuck to short ram. even the bypass efficiency is really questionable. Basically you need alot of work done to fix the motor. I remember back 9 years ago when the AEM CAI was really popular with civics, they would always hydrolock their engines

LOL

Yup cars may be gone. Might be a good idea to open up the engine and see what's up. Pull the oil pan should be easy to do.

So you thought you could go through a flood intersection in a sports car?

Another good example why you should drive the Z in the rain. (Expect if your car is a DD)

Those pesky CAI, I had the same issue with mine.

I had a CAI on 4 other cars, 1 of them was 4 inches off the ground and dragged all the time and I drove that thing in the rain and never had any issues. I don't know why the Z is any different. I don't have to drive that fast in heavy rain with the Z and the CAI starts to suck up water, so I have to keep it below 2500 rpm

Try starting the engine, if it cranks and sparks, let it run idle for an hour so it burns all the water out. When you give it throttle, you will probably see thick white smoke coming out of the exhaust, that is the water burning out. Restart the car and see how it runs, if it still doesn't run normally, the water did too much damage and you'll need to get a new motor. At this point, you might as well start thinking of changing out your clutch/flywheel if it needs to be replaced. You'll save A LOT on labor getting it done with the engine. You should get rid of that cold air intake and swap out to a Popcharger so you don't run into this problem again.
