Cop pulled me and gave me a ticket for the exhaust!
Actually...
I've done that before. It all depends on where you take your car to get checked. If you already have experience at a particular station, and you know they're too lazy to check, then go for it.
If you're unsure, then don't bother. The judge will get you for purjury (sp?) and other charges they can come up with.
So to answer your question, yes it will work as long as you don't get caught. This is based on a couple of experiences, not just speculation.

dont be a dick when you go, dress nicely and you should be fine. whip out the suthern kali jargon with your flat brimmed dodger hat and they'll stick it to you for no front plate and tint! ditto cheston on the age question.

Perjury is the act of lying or making verifiably false statements on a material matter under oath or affirmation in a court of law or in any of various sworn statements in writing. Perjury is a crime because the witness has sworn to tell the truth and, for the credibility of the court, witness testimony must be relied on as being truthful.
Perjury is considered a serious offense as it can be used to usurp the power of the courts, resulting in miscarriages of justice. In the United States, for example, the general perjury statute under Federal law provides for a prison sentence of up to five years, and is found at 18 U.S.C. § 1621. See also 28 U.S.C. § 1746

ktown & downtown are ttwo totally different divisions...
a huge chunk of ktown falls under rampart division and they dont really trip on exhausts, front plates etc...
downtown on the other hand is usually central division and its pretty slow there...
skimnismo/scott got rolled their for his nismo/ testpipes but showed him his receipt from the nissan dealership saying nismo came from the dealership and they let him go...
sorry to hear but please dont do the thing with your friend, not worth it, just pay a shop to take it off and put it on, the price you pay for owning a modded car in Cali... you're lucky it wasnt a referee ticket

You can't be close to 80dba at idle.
a jack hammer is 80dba at 50ft.
Get a Tester from band pro, go to a police station and show them you are no where near that. They sign off ticket. Then return the tester.
My roommate did it in high school. Worked perfectly.

don't be a cheap. It's not worth the risk. Just go get it swapped out because if you get caught and get in even more trouble, you'll wish that you had just done it. It's only money.
I had a couple of these in my younger days. Try to find someone who is a cop or knows a cop. I had my friends dad sign off on my fix it tickets. All I did wash show up (Clairemont Court) and gave the lady in the booth my signed ticket. I've also showed up with it unsigned before. A cop came out, looked at my car and signed it, paid 15 bucks to the lady in the booth, and I was done. Not sure how strict they are now a days though...
I got the same ticket on 210 pasadena + front plate on 12/28/07
I put back the stock cat back with my friend other weekend( had Hks Hi Ti) but still have the RT HFCs. will it PASS???????

Dude here's what you do.
Step 1: Buy a 12 pack of beer, and get the proper tools.
Step 2: Disconnect your exhaust and take a beer break.
Step 3: Buy more beer.
Step 4: Connect OEM exhaust.
Step 5: Buy more beer.
Step 6: Turn on vehicle to make sure nothing falls off.
Step 7: Buy more beer.
You're done.
