Default Help installing aerocatch hood pins.

are there anyone here who felt comfortable installing thier own aerocatch hoodpin and it turned out good ( on a cf hood, willing to pay for help ).. or can anyone refer me to a shop around 626 area or near that is willing to do it
and will get the job done right the first time?

i went to 3 shops around my area and no one is willing to do it because they never did the aerocatch and dont like installing hoodpins on cf hoods because the customers go back to them complaining about cracks.

thanks

i did mine and it turn out pretty good. took a lot of hours of measuring and fitting and a lot of thinking if i wanna do it myself. I'd say just have a pro do it for you. I posted some pics on the other thread. Good luck with the installation

Here's what I did which worked for me... as well as the materials:

Masking tape, drill & bits, marker, dremmel w/ cutting & smoothing bits, pencil.

1. Mask the designated area on top of the hood with white masking tape.
2. Do the same for the same designated area under the hood.
3. Place where you want the hoodpins to be in the engine bay.
4. Mark the top of the pins with a wet marker. Saturate it enough so that it will leave a mark on the masking tape.
5. Close the hood so that way the pins touch the underside of the hood so that it marks the masking tape.
6. Double check that the masking tape on the underside of the hood is marked, if not attempt again.
7. Once you've acquired the mark, get a drill and drill straight up from the underside of the hood.
8. Locate the holes from the top of the hood and get the stencils that are supplied within the AeroCatch package.
9. Place the crosshair on the hole so that it is centered and use the pencil to mark & stencil the hole that you will be cutting out.
10. Use a dremmel with the cutting bit and work from the center out. (Note: just in case, cut the hole a bit smaller that way if you make a mistake you can always smooth it out with the smoothing bit. Can't go from having a bigger hole into making it smaller!)
11. Do the same from the underside, except make the hole about .5 inches wider all around so that you can install the screw on top of the AeroCatch latch to the underside and fasten them with the provided nuts.
12. Double check your work and close down your hood!

Hope I covered everything. It isn't a simple task, but it isn't impossible as well. But please do take your time and have some patience. It's always to have a 2nd person helping you out.
