bump for another ps3 owner, but you get a ps3 for 400 with 5 bluray movies already.

^^ what he said, but free bump.

What version is your PS3? 20/40/60/80gb?

the 60gb are typically the one in demand...

i love my 60gb. i still don't understand why some of the newer ones cant play the old PS2 games. metal gear solid 4 is a must if you get a ps3. even it was pretty short, its like a free 10 hour movie

the 20/60gb ps3's have the ps2 hardware in it.

the '2nd gen' ps3's emulate ps2, but its not as good

the '3rd gen' ps3's dont play older games at all....

Most? It doesn't play all PS2 games? That's what I was told from a salesguy at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. If not, then I don't feel so bad buying the 40gb unit. I just needed a BluRay player, and the gaming was just a huge plus. I can't wait to play MGS4......

the 80gb plays like 80% and up of ps2 games. all the major titles should work on it. like a poster said before, its due to the fact that the 80gb uses software to emulate the ps2, whereas the 60gb uses actual hardware.

my friend who worships ps3's and works for game crazy(I would say pretty credible source) says that sony is suppose to release an update in October so that the 40gig ps3's will play the ps2's. I guess they have the hardware to do it, but to save cost, they eliminated the software in them...
