anyone here play volleyball? i'm always looking for open gyms, leagues, or tournaments in or near orange county so please post if you know of any great places to play. i only know a few places at the moment but i want to play more and get better. i like playing in parks too but i prefer hard court (not sand). maybe if enough people play, we can have a z vball meet sometime.

There are Westside tournaments all around Socal several times a year. I play every now and then. There is also open gym in Eagle Rock every week. It may be a bit far for you, though.

Way to bring a thread back from the dead. Haha. I'm always down to play too. There's still open gym in Eagle Rock if anyone is down. It's an invite only thing, so let me know if anyone wants to show.

It's on Tuesdays from about 6-8pm. There's no charge, but like I said, it's invite only. I know the person who opens the gym (coach of the guys team). We usually play doubles or king of the court. It's mainly for the guys and girls on the team who wanna stay after and play. There's some decent players there. Shoot me a pm if you want more info.

It depends on the division you signed up for. I played in the "A" league once. Those guys are really good ranging from advanced to former college players. Some of them were even pro. In the "B" league, the competition is pretty good. They're more of the upper high school division/talent. Some college guys come down into that bracket also. If you're a beginner, you should be fine in the division you signed up for. Just make sure you know the basic rules. There are no refs, so the teams take turns reffing each other's matches.

thanks for the info zete. i play for my church's team but we are pretty good for a church team. i'd say we're about the level of a decent high school team and we win most of the time when we play at open gyms. i think the beginner division at westside should be the right level for us.

hey if you ever want to play in the orange county area, let me know. i play with j3dz.

Haven't decided if i will play Newport later tonight (8-12am)...Newport is good, sometimes D2 and D1 players show up....they are freakin ridiculous!

Yeah, that would be sweet. I'm incognito for while though. Ruptured two tendons in my left foot.
