I thought as long as you can still see your brake lights/taillights through the smoked taillights, its legal?

Or is that tinted taillights? Shouldnt it be the same?

my z is 06 so i have leds and my smoke isn't that dark. really its up to the officer to decide if he wants to write you up or not. the inspector chked out my smoked lights and even he said it was legal. i think the rule is if it can be seen from 500ft. then its legal.
