Default Hit and Run, now i need to get it fixed *SIGH*

i was out with some friends of mine last night when i noticed a huge dent by my passenger door. i was extremely pissed off after i noticed it. i dont know who did it, dont know when or where it happened but i'd rather not waste my time trying to figure that out. now i dont know if i should pay for the damages on my own or through my insurance. can i call my insurance company to find out how much my premium will go up if i report to them? what do you guys suggest?

here's some pics

That sucks, sorry to hear that man. If you can afford to fix it yourself then do not involve the insurance company. No telling if or how much your rates will rise, but 80-20 chance that they do.

Sucks man... how much is your insurance deductible?

is that scratches on the door or just smeared dirt? If it's just the rear panel, you can try picking one from junk yards and paint it. (there's some by the 605 Freeway, in btw 10/210) Paint shops are all over SGV with decent prices.

if the paint + new body piece = deductible, F insurance

edit: it looks fixable without getting a new one.

Those junkyards that m0nkie is talking about are in the city of Irwindale... on Alpha Street, west of the 605, NW of the track in Irwindale. I think that piece is attached to the frame and is not able to be removed... right? I could be wrong though, but to fix it definitly bondo and a really good body shop. I know 20/20 in City of Industry does really good work, but it's not the cheapest around. You can check with them.

Is that the rear fender only? Sorry I'm at work and am just glimpsing through the pictures. I have a friend in Pomona @ Technical Element and he can probably fix it for $200, not exactly suer though. 2020 is too crowded lol, gotta make appointment.

^ Yeah I know, that's the only bad thing about 20/20, always busy... but there's a reason for it right? haha. I know 20/20 does a lot of expensive cars... have friends that take their baller status cars to them, so I know they are very good.

it hurts just to look at these pictures over and over. the white marks on the door are scratches related to the damage. i seriously cannot afford to dish out money but im gonna have to. another thing that might make it cost even more is i think the rear wheel is unaligned now.

I'm not 100% sure about this but I thought sometimes insurance doesn't consider these unless an accident happens later or you switch insurance companies. That's when your rate will go up.

I had my Z keyed all the way, had the entire car painted through insurance, it didn't show until I got a pretty bad ticket a year ago.

it would be claimed as uninsured motorist or something like that... I had the same incident happen to me..

I called allstate and they said I could use my insurance but my premium would go up.. and my deductible is 500... so I just went around to find out if I could get it fixed cheaper than the deductible and I did... if you can go to boba's friend's place to get it fixed cheaper and pay 80 bucks for alignment, i'd think you'd be ok

i hit a blown truck tire laying on the freeway and got my car fix through insurance. the damage was pretty much the whole front bumper, rt side front fender, rt side side skirts and a big *** scratch on the rt rear fenders. my premium never went up. this happened last year. so try asking your insurance company.

DAMN, and I thought my Z was dirty.

That dent is in a bad spot. Atleast it didn't hit the side skirt too.

If you claim this under comprehensive your rate shouldn't go up. Don't admit/suggest it was a hit and run otherwise they might try to claim it as collision which most likely will cause your rate to go up. Just tell them you have no idea what coulda happened. Maybe somebody kicked it or a drunk stumbled against it. Learned that from a body and repair owner who works closely with the insurance adjusters when I had mine repaired.
