Default Anyone ever bought an LCD tv from amazon?

I'm just a little hesitant when it comes to shipping big items with LCD in it. Is it usually safe? Anything I should be aware of?

I'd rather pick it up from a store but Amazon is throwing a really cheap deal on this certain model.

My friend ordered a 50" LCD off the internet and he received the box and tv in perfect condition. He didn't get it from Amazon, but from Bestbuy.com. I wouldn't mind buying an LCD off the internet because if anythings wrong with it when you receive it, you can always not sign for it and send it back. The only thing I'd be worried about is buying a plasma tv off the internet since they HAVE to always be standing up and can't be layed flat. There's something about the crystals in the screen that get messed up if the screen is layed flat, and I'm sure a lot of delivery guys don't know that. Good luck with the purchase dude!

Yeah, that's what I heard about the plasma too. Sensitive crystals.
I might do the Amazon.com route since its like 400bucks off. I'm sure best buy and the rest will follow eventually. I'm a lil excited with this whole DLNA thing.

What do you mean not sign and send it back? Does the delivery guy wait for you to test the TV 1st before you sign?

You don't really have to take the tv out and plug it in, but if the box looks beat up I would at least open it first to make sure the tv isn't scratched or anything. As far as I know, you're allowed to inspect any item that you have to sign for before signing.

Good call. I might give price matching a try. You think best buy does price matches?

I guess here's my answer for best buy

Does Best Buy match prices of Internet retailers?
If you made your purchase in a Best Buy store, and you find an Internet retailer with a local retail store honoring its own online prices, we'll match their price, plus 10% of the difference. Internet-only retailers are exempt from our price matching program, as well as Web-exclusive offers. Eligible items must be the same brand and model, and currently in stock at the competitor's store. For purchases made online at BestBuy.com, please refer to the Online Price Guarantee on BestBuy.com.

let me give you some advice. working for a shipping company a couple years ago, your tv is highly likely to be thrown around. you might wanna consider actually go to the store to be on the safe side.

Do it man. I bought an XBR from them and it's perfect. IF the box comes fked up, simply refuse it and ask for another. They allow you to take it out the box and give it an look over. You sometimes can't beat Amazon's deals.

Amazon FTW.

I don't even step foot into Best Buy or CC for tech stuff anymore. Too overpriced, and half the time the sales reps know nothing but to talk about a few buzzwords and whatever inventory they're pushing.

Amazon is almost always a good choice, and there a lot of other great online retailers you can get your TV from. I purchased my LN-46A650 from 6ave.com a couple of months back.

Shipping an LCD isn't that big of a deal, mine came in another box surrounded by peanuts. I had another LCD arrive in it's regular box, manufacturers know that a lot of their TVs are going to be shipped, so they package accordingly. Just make sure you fire it up soon after you get it so if there are any problems you can make them aware ASAP.

Default Sick coupon site!

Before you go to Amazon.com, go to my buddies site, www.logicBuy.com for SICK deals. The site does not actually sell anything, he searches the internet to find the best deals on electronics like LCD TV's, computer hardware, video games, etc. It is SICK. I always check the site before I go anywhere else because the site always has AMAZING deals.

Check it out-------> www.logicbuy.com

Good Luck!

^ to one of the posts above... I didnt know that big retailers warrent pricematches of online-only retailers? I know best buy does not 100% [unless the person makes a mistake and does so anyway]

as far as deals online they are almost always unbeatable! but... IMO they dont beat the deal @ BestBuy. 36 months 0% interest over $999 [same at CC]. and also piece of mind that you're able to take it directly to the store you purchased at if anything goes wrong.

Also, extended waranty is something I'd take [3yr] if available too... not sure if Amazon and other online retailers offer that...

Extended warranties are a waste of money on anything less than 2g's. TV's are so cheap these days if one dies after the standard warranty you might as well go buy a better one for a cheaper price (new technology FTW!).

haha careful... i went to circuit city and had them compare the DLNA's 40" to the samsung 40" (which i now own) and the samsung beat it out on like 2 separate categories... brightness was one of them, cant remember the other. (yes these were 2 LCD's of the same resolution and were comparable)

dont know how many other ppl out there might agree but samsung is FTW
