m0nkie, I don't think there will be any riders at night... unless they are retarded but is it just not a good idea to drive the canyons at night esp when it's raining? I'm all down for a canyon run... but just not tonight.
if you guys go... becareful.

uh.. wtf is highway azuza 2 north? you're mixing up the GMR/azusa area canyons w/ highway 2 (aka angeles crest)... azusa's like 20+ miles east of angeles crest.
the crest isn't closed at night, no. but the highway hasn't been fully open to wrightwood (north side of angeles crest mountains) for quite a few years already.. the roads washed out one winter and they never fixed them.
however... the road up to the closing point is a great road to drive, even if you're just cruising. angeles crest highway is under city jurisdiction and a part of it is a major thoroughfare to lancaster/palmdale (up to where it meets up with angeles forest highway) so they keep it very well maintained.
if you've never driven the crest before.. start in la canada and head up... there are a few major stops along the way. one where the crest meets angeles forest highway, and then another (bigggg parking lot) right at the base of the road up to mt wilson observatory. it's about a 15-20 minute drive from foothill blvd up to that parking lot.
