Hey Erick, I'm in the same boat with ya. Took the essay last week and still waiting for results. From what I've read, just be honest with your answer. The process is brutally long so patience is a must. Just one day at a time my friend. Keep us updated with your progress.

i think lots of people say that but its no being a cop is no joke. people think "i messed up at wut im doing so imma go be a cop now" but their policies are as tough as ever. not saying you or eric or anyone "messed up" at what you're doing but its not just a job, its a life. think of superiors giving you orders, having to deal with retards on the streets, working shitty hours and having to come home late night, early morning only to be exhausted, fall asleep and go back to doing it again the next day. all my cop friends say its draining...... only the ones who are 100% committed remain in the force.

i feel you man i can barely deal with trash driving daily and having to deal with uncooperative people on a daily yo.. it must be hella strain...
on the other hand growing up in a "hostile environment" i have my fair share of street smart in me
i was really debating on becoming a teacher / cop but i just care to get my degree right now and whatever hopefully is appealing ill definitely have to look into it. with our unstable recession right now, it doesnt look like CHANGE will be happening for another few years

Why LAPD out of all other department. Did you already go through the academy? if not then you should enroll your self and go through the academy first. Its a big plus, also other recruiters might pick you up from other department. Im an LEO and telling you this from experience. Good luck.

Ask yourself this if this is something you want to do? Can you take the stress and crap for the next 20~30 years?
Back on the subject I don't know how it is these days but when I applied we only have 7 tests to take. What is it now for you? 8? I hear it is far more difficult these days than 5 years ago. Just be honest and don't give any bs around. Whatever crap they give just take it.

Just answer with honesty, those questions will be asked a few times during the remaining 9 steps... to get to the academy (your polygraph and dept. interview for the most part). Just be honest. Been there done that. I passed my dept. interview and was on my way to Academy.
I backed out, can't take a huge pay cut for now. I highly suggest that you start working on your stamina (start running). I also suggest to take a ride along with a Sgt. 77th division for more action
Good luck Eric.

I agree LAPD is easy to get in if you're clean, If I can pass to get in the academy, trust me anyone can.
