I just started working for the state last march. I loved my job and how "secure" it was supposed to be. A lot has happened in the past few weeks, from hearing they are gonna lay off state workers because they are going broke, and now the latest, taking 10 percent of everyones pay. You may have heard state workers get 1st and 3rd fridays off in order to take their 10 percent? Guess what, I have to work those days and they are still taking 10 percent from me. I don't even want to think about this tax return now.

sucks, but not surprising given the California monetary situation

but, better tax planning on your part would also mean no refund to even have to deal with....worth talking to your accountant about

Sorry to hear that.

Its amazing to see how our politicians can do absolutely the wrong thing on a continuous basis and remain oblivious to reality.

They must live in a different dimension from the rest of us.

EDIT: or they must look down on their constituents as nothing more than septic bacteria.

I guess electing an actor/bodybuilder wasn't the solution to all of the problems in CA. Who knew?

Not looking forward to the "IOU" call from my accountant either... Funny (not) before they announced it, my wife predicted the state issuing IOU's and I said, "Never happen..."

I hate it when she's right... I hate it when I'm wrong too, but I hate it when I'm wrong about something she's right.

Here is a solution I posted on another forum to get around this if you really really need the money.

http://www.infinitiscene.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=4574

You should use any exemption under 10...
