Default Seeking Powdercoating Refferal

Just had a quick question in regards to powdercoating. I have an 07 PPW and love the factory wheel style, just was looking into getting them powdercoated either a flat or glossy black, and was wondering if anyone could refer me to a company that they have had a positive experience with for a reasonable price. Also from your experience which looks better the flat or glossy black? I realize most of that is strictly a personal opinion, but was wondering what the general feelings were on that? But mostly was just interested in a reputable shop with competitive pricing. Thanks for any help you have! You can just PM me the info if you'd like. Thanks again!

i'm looking for a company to powdercoat my wheels also, but for my crotch rocket, the track set. so if anyone can help both of us out, that would be great.

wheat, if you do powdercoat them black, i like the flat black much better. glossy black 07 wheels would look kinda cheezy to me. just my opinion...

cool, ya see that's pretty much the type of feedback I was looking for, just was wondering on what the consensus was on the look of them. My ONLY worry is that the flat black will look just like they were spray painted...thats why I guess I need a good reputable shop that can make em look like the stock Porsche flat black wheels, those are nice! But I have been leaning towards flat, just need a good job.

I got my Volks powder coated at Embee PC in Santa Ana, CA. They did good work. Tires need to be unmounted before bringing them in. Cost depends on a number of things. Size of wheels, stripping of existing powder coat, etc... My wheels were 19's and needed to be stripped (chemically) from its original color. OTD it cost me $340.

Check them out online. Turn around time for me was 5 business days.

i think this is exactly what you wanted to do right? might not be a good idea. either spray can them flat black, or just save up and buy some aftermarket wheels.

I just don't trust the powdercoating process, I would recommend getting them painted instead.

Best place to get wheels painted or fixed and they don't overheat your wheels in the paint process.

Eli (the owner) painted my LMGT4's and its been 8 months without any issues.

wow...ya I definitely will be going with just painting! Thanks SOOOO much for the heads up guys! Definitely appreciated!! Looking at the pics of the wheel that broke, I REALLY like that look...can they paint it that flat look. I think that looks pretty slick...minus the part where it broke!

PERFECT! Thanks a lot for that link! I think the Porsche Carrera wheel there is exactly what im going for...its like a flat dark dark charcoal/black color. Ill be giving them a call manana for some pricing! Is painting typically cheaper than powdercoating?

this may be another random question though....but is there anyone out there who has some stock rims that I could borrow while my wheels are getting painted...not exactly sure of the time frame but im guessing its 2-4 days somewhere in there...? Just don't know what Id do without a car that long...or where Id store it without any wheels ha So is there anyone in So Cal that has some stockers around to borrow?
