Default Shop Review! Specialty Z in the 818

I heard about this place through a Z32 owner who came up to me when i was filling up at the gas station.

I needed a place that could do the Transgo 5AT upgrade for me, so I thought I would give Specialty Z a call. Greg and Seb are both very friendly and were very helpful. They really know their stuff on Z cars. They even have 9 second Z32 beast at their shop!!

They worked on my car promptly and I had it back within their promised deadline. The included work was the upgrading of the valve body and the addition of an upgraded transmission cooler mounted in the front. Best of all, the price was very reasonable for the amount of labor required for the upgrade.

In the future, I will definitely be going back to them for the Uprev Osiris tune on their dynojet whenever I get the rest of the boltons done.

I will be doing the valve body upgrade in the future, just wanted to know which you used(AAM, Stillen, etc)? Any issues?

Edit: Transgo.. Duh.. It's on the post...

1) How much was the labor?
2) How do you like the new VB? I've heard that the shifts can be somewhat harsh.

Shoot me a PM if interested. You can also drive my Z to see if you like the VB.

Shifts are only "harsh" when you're really giving it throttle. If you are driving it normally, it shifts like stock. The "harsh" shifting is the whole point of the VB upgrade. It makes the shifts faster and firmer

Got an RPS clutch, flywheel and few other things done at Specialty Z about a year ago. Great shop to go with! They definitely know their stuff. Seb was really helpful answering all of my questions... and, I had a pretty good number of questions. Really nice guy and he really took care of me to make sure i was going with the right parts to give me what i wanted. They have really reasonable prices, and you will get good quality work. I plan to go back for a few more upgrades very soon.

Specialty is a very Legit business, I've done business with them for years before I even started my own. very cool guys very very knowledgeable and won't let you down. You won't regrett taking your car there. they are very good tunners as well they tunned an oil burner engine, with 112 and 125 compression on cylinder 4 and 6 soaking spark plugs in oil very last minute for the forum wars and made very good power for a dying engine. that torque Curve is just insane. I will be taking my VQHR to them in the very near future for a tune.

Intake, Headers, test pipes, Nismo Replica Exhaust. everything else BONE STOCK

you should talk to sebastian @ specialty Z about it. they are very knowledgeable. I'm getting my car tuned there within the next month or so. I love their tune's I had my old Twin Turbo Z32 tuned by them, and all my clients have their ECU flashed by them. I would not trust anyone else tuning my car. here in SoCal.

Hey Alex, i'll probably be headed over there to get some dynojet numbers for my setup, since my current dynapack number are probably high, so I can have a better comparison with other cars since dynojet is more standard...

I have been to Specialty Z to pick up a PMASS sensor when my MAF died, and no one else in Socal had it in stock, not even GTM!...saved me a few days of rental cars...

Alright guys just as promiced. I went to Specialty Z last night, original intentions where to get some ECU's flashed a customer that im swaping VQ into his 240sx. and get a baseline of my car with my intakes and then with the stock air box. during the Dyno pull Sebastican cut her off pretty early due to the fact that i was in the 15's and high 14's at WOT!!! i don't know how my engine didn't grenade but god damn it was really lean, since we where short on time i figured we wouldn't have time to do both the intake changing AND Tuning my car. so I just had sebastian tune my car. my car feels like a completly different car. I think this, and the testpipes are probably the best mod's ive done for my car. Just like you hear me say in the Video I wouldn't trust my car to be tuned like everyone else and the results speak for them selves. the car still made 20+ extra wheel HP all across the board Heatsoaked after 11 pulls. there is so much more bottom end on it that i never knew was there. and the top RPM's of the car feel stronger too not just on my *** Dyno but it really shows. here is my Dyno sheet. specs are as follows

Nismo Intakes with Bardabe Performance Development Extensions
Custom test Pipes
Greddy Evo 2TT Cat back
UpRev Tune By Specialty Z
everything else is suspension work. sorry for the shitty quality of the video i only got a point and shoot camera or my phone. sooo go figure lol
