^Probably the driveshaft and the sliders.
All I know is that after I got it back from Cerritos Nissan 3rd and 5th gear wouldn't slide in right. 3rd would slide in a bit early, and 5th would slide in hella early. Since I got the Z back everything is back in spec, and feels like when I drove it off the lot. Hard to explain since I ain't mechanically inclined. If you really want to get your ?'s answered call my mechanic his info is a few posts above.
As far as the teardown, had no choice Cerritos Nissan wanted $1050 just to pull the tranny and inspect, and that's BS and you know it, and you know that the dealership won't own up to their negligence which is why I got the CA Bar involved, and if they can't get Nissan to ante up than it's small claims.
I can send you some pics of the broken bolts/messed up bolts and flywheel if you really want to see.
But thanks for the heads up, I've already started to work on building up a case, I really hope that if I have to go to small claims that I get a judge that somewhat knows about cars.

Like I said, doesn't matter what the dealer wanted to take the tranny out. If they did the work on it prior, it is up to you to take it back to them to cure the issue. By taking it to someone else, you bypassed that. Now the dealer can claim anything they want since you didn't give them a chance to fix it. Also, the issue that you had with getting it in gear could have been clutch related. So either the clutch itself or the installation of that clutch could have caused the problems.

^I took it to them first. Me and my service advisor both agreed that there was something wrong with the tranny. He then took it in, and charged me $100 for a "world class inspection". The next day he told me $1050 to pull the tranny, and that's where I declined.
So I think I gave them a chance. The reason why I declined was because their labor rates are a complete rip. Also since they are the ones that caused the problem I probably would have left there with even more future problems.

I understand that fighting the dealership will be a hassle, but that is why I have opened a case with the CA BAR

Oh also just in case you didn't read the entire thread.
The basic fact is that they fail to take responsibility.
After my shop tore everything down Cerritos Nissan head service tech and shop foreman both came down to my mechanic's shop and inspected everything, and once again said that they are not the one's at fault.
I got them to admit that the aftermarket parts were perfect, and did not cause the damage.
I also got them to admit that the bolts were what had failed which are a Nissan OEM part that they installed.
So I gave them a chance to correct their mistakes, it's just that they won't accept responsibility. Even my case manager told me that I followed the correct path to get a shot at recouping my losses.

West Covina Nissan has a pretty good service department as well. My 03 is close to 100k and only Performance and West Covina worked on it. Nothing major aside from the damn window motors.

BTW, I feel our window motor is defective in itself. I'm on my 3rd or 4th motor already and have a feeling my passenger-side is going to die very soon. Anyone has any idea on to fix this in the long run?

LOL my ex used to go to cerritos nissan with her z. she's hot and the tech that USED to work there she was cool with so they took care of her. but, the nissan in garden grove off Trask..bunch of crooks as well. that tech she was cool with found out they unplugged one of her headlights and claimed it didn't work, and all this other bullcrap like the car had been in an accident (she bought it used) which is also bs. hood wouldn't close right unless you really slammed it; some guy just mounted the hood latch wrong (he used a plastic spacer, wtf?) which i fixed myself.

they were trying to quote her like 3k to "fix" all the problems.
i never trust dealerships unless i have to get factory parts that i can't get online.

as far as shops, i've only been to corner3 garage in irvine, for my ex's z. i would trust them with any of my cars, anyday. here's there info in case anyone's wondering..pulled it from the list of so cal shops:

*Corner3 Garage*
20602 Pascal Way, Unit B
Lake Forest, CA 92630
949-380-0801
Steve or Nima
Bolt-ons, turbo/supercharger, regular maintenance.
