Default Illegal to wash cars in driveways in socal?

Anybody else hear about this? I heard a few cities in socal are banning it and if they catch you theyll fine you like 200 bucks, which is complete a$$. I dont like the idea of other people washing my car, or those car wash machines. Any idea what so cal cities this applies to?

I'm not sure if this is true in my area but if it is, I will be washing my car in my garage.

There are restrictions on what days you can water your lawns and for how long now. Drought = the sux.

Not sure about washing your car tho.

Yeah I heard this a few months ago, but washing your car isn't illegal its just
the illegal part is you cant have your soapy water run into the storm drain. (suburban neighborhood with sewers)
So I can kind of see where it is a simplification to say it is illegal to wash your car in your drive way.
I wash my car all the time in the drive way though soo ill just have to see

If I remember correctly, it's illegal to do it on the street (e.g. when you're parked on the street) but I never heard anything about your own property.

The restrictions really depend on what city you live in.

For LADWP customers the only restriction to car washing is that you must use a water nozzle at the end of your hose.

San Diego restriction for the summer was:

Before 10 am OK
After 6 pm OK
Must use a hose with regulator **** or valve of some sort.

Not sure how this is going to change for the fall since it gets darker earlier in the day.

No mention of driveway or soap down the gutter.

Guess some people don't care. The ticket is just another cost in keeping their lawn green.
