im still way down for this!! just came back from a private track day at buttonwillow and OH MY GAWDz how much fun!!!!!

 

How do you find out about such events? I have been on the track in several years now, and have yet to hit the track with in a RWD. So I'm hyped about doing an event soon!

 

I really want to do it with a bunch other other Zs to see how my car stacks up... ... It would be cool to be on the track but you know, how would you know if your cars better than a regular Z ... And to have extra people there with the same car would be nice, you know like if anything goes wrong...

But I would most likely tow my car up in my families auto hauler keep those R888 in good shape... so yeah...

But if we could get a track like Willow springs, button willow, or California speed way that would be bomb... no time attack stuff or drift or drag... real racing with the lefts and the rights and the straight bits...

 

well you can rent buttonwillow track for like $5000 for a day... and thats what a guy at my work did and i got invited... theres was only 16 cars there and we could enter/exit the track any time we wanted... i could do a few laps, and then come off and change the damping in my coilovers, change my tire pressure, etc.... it was a very fun and relaxed atmosphere.

ive also done track day thru speedventures. with speedventures there could be probably anywhere between 30 - 50 cars and theres 25-30 minute sessions. This was nowhere near as fun as the buttonwillow private day but thats of course expected. What i got at buttonwillow that day was pretty much, well, a gift. Usually you would have to do something like the speedventures events.

i think that if we get enough people on here interested and pay up front, we can rent the track and have it be just us... that would be cool... i dont know if thats what cheston was trying to do in the first place.

 

hmmm... i dont know what you mean by real racing... passing a slower car is done by the driver in the slower car (in front of you) pointing/waving you by. you cannot pass unless you get this point/wave by. Its alot more controlled that way... otherwise things can get ugly real quick.
