Not true. The amount of the ticket depends on exactly where you were and your previous driving record. In long beach, 80 in a 65 is less than 300 dollars depending on your previous record, mine was 190 + traffic school fee + traffic school.

I was coming home from dinner with the wife in Riverside yesterday and I saw at least three cars get lit up and pulled over.

Best thing to do is just traffic school and drive safely.

if I was the cop I would have given you a ticket too, out of spite, for thinking having a retired lapd' badge/card should allow you to break the law.

seriously, how is that supposed to hold any merit?

If they ever raise the speed limit to 80, I'd never have to worry about getting pulled over. As long as I'm doing 80, I'm happy. To me, that's just a comfortable speed with our 3 to 5 lane freeways even with traffic.

I was in traffic school with a little jerk off just like that guy, and the whole two days he was b!tching about why he had to be there... Appearantly his daddy was an SDPD officer, and he "couldn't understand why the cop still gave him a ticket after he told him who his father was"...
I just don't understand why people think like that... They feel like they have some right to break the law because someone in their family is in law enforcement...

My ticket was in August. With the court fees, traffic school fee and everything else it came out to about 240-250 I believe, I'd have to check. I think it also depends on where you were and who issued the ticket. I got a ticket about a month after getting my license and it was 300 for 50 in a 45 (douchebag cop) in OC and I got another ticket a few years ago for 80 in a 65 in the Pismo area and that was only 180. I don't see a reason, I just know in Long Beach they couldn't give me a price when I went to the courthouse because they said it would depend on history but said 80 in a 65 would be less than 300, turned out much less

I got a ticket 6 months ago for doing 109mph in a 65mph zone. After 100mph is a different citation code. It goes from 1 point to 2, 30 days suspension of license, and a fine of about $1000. The officer can impound your car if they want to, luckily the CHP that pulled me over let me go. I believe that its only wreckless driving and all the other things if your driving stupid while doing 100+. i was going in one lane at 2am so i think thats why i didnt get charged for that.

I fought that ticket by hiring an attorney that costed me $700. He went to court for me twice and got it dismissed. Wilsonzhuu, I wouldn't try to fight that yourself, id highly reccomend getting a traffic attorney. Its well worth the money.
