Can anyone recommend a bar or a club in the Hollywood / downtown area?
My friend wanted a last minute farewell getaway so she asking if I knew of any place. Can anyone recommend a place in the Hollywood / LA area? A mix crowd is preferable. Feel free to look us up tonight haha
Thanks I appreciated

highlands will be playing trance/house music tonight...its a very nice place with good bar/sound system but i dont know about the crowd...sometimes its full of FOBs doing the washing machine other times its cool. Avalon is cool too, or you can go to vanguard both are playing trance music...if thats what ur into...hip hop places are all over... if u wana just hang out and have some drinks at a quiet place try saddle ranch. Cabana club is cool as well but on Sat nights so im not sure if its going on on FRI...

Thanks everyone I know what I asked yesterday was last minute. Ended up going to Edison. Wow I normally don't go to bar but I admit it is a nice place to go. Had a great time there. Thanks again Myfirst06350Z and everyone for your recommendation.

Here is my guide to having fun!
Unlike all of the other big cities in the country, LA's club scene is almost bi-polar in regards to what day you are looking to go out (the clubs are only worth going to on weekends, really)... For example, one of my favorite clubs (Circus Disco) is an awesome place to hear both famous headline and up-and-coming DJs on weekends, but it is actually a gay bar/club on the weekdays.
-------WEEKENDS-------
Mainly electronic/house/trance music:
Fridays - Vanguard, HWood (oddly enough, that's actually both the name AND the city it's in)
Saturday - Blvd3, Circus Disco
Standard hip-hop/pop/top-40 music:
Fridays - Element, Area
Saturdays - LAX, Cabana
Those are the best (imho) clubs in the LA/Hollywood area. The only problem is that they are pricey (most of the time girls even have to pay a $25-35 cover and the drinks are around $10-15). If you are on a budget or looking for something a little smaller, I'd suggest either Area DNA (San Gabriel) or Menage (Old Town Pasadena). They have little-to-no cover and their drinks are $6-7.
---------WEEKDAYS----------
On the weekdays, the clubs aren't that great. They have to appeal to a different crowd. The ladies who go there usually have boyfriends or have a stick up their *** and the guys who are inside are usually low-lives who don't have jobs. If you are looking to party Monday-Thursday, I would suggest a pubcrawl. If you want a ~30 year old scene, hit Downtown LA, but if you want an younger crowd, Santa Monica is the place to go (it's near UCLA so you get a lot of college kids). Here are the best of each...
Downtown:
King Eddy's, 107, The Standard, The Golden Gopher
Santa Monica:
Cabo Cantina, Q's, Busby's, Sonny McLean's, O' Brien's
I hope this helped!
