Default Go to GTM or Technosquare for FI??

Ive really been considering getting the HKS GT SC. Both of these shops are local to me and i want to choose the right one to go to for a complete install and tune.

I know that both have really good reputations and many many people back them up...

So far im personally 50/50 on which shop to go with:

-GTM has installed the HKS SC kit many times, they are very familiar with it, but i (and others) didnt like the way GTM responded to member A.H when his transmission failed possibly due to their valvebody upgrade... I need a shop that will have my back if something goes wrong.

-Technosquare is a great shop and they really took care of me when i took my car there about a year ago to get a pumpkin swap (from 3.3 to 3.5 FD)... On the other hand, I called them today with an inquiry about the HKS SC install info and price quote, and the lady that answered the phone was very confused and was not helpful at all, which leads me to believe Technosquare may not do alot (if any) of these kits... Maybe i just need to go in there and talk to them in person? Ive also read that the HKS GT SC can only be installed by an authorized HKS dealer? So that may be the issue with TS?

I'd love to hear positive, but especially NEGATIVE, experiences with either shop... Please help me make my decision on which shop to go with !!

Thanks in advance!

yes you can only buy that SC from a HKS dealer. and I dont think GTM will sell it without install

so i doubt you have many choices.

I'd honestly go to GTM if you are willing to spend a pretty penny for a proper install. Technosquare is a smaller shop, no offense to them, but I don't think they have as much experience as GTM does. People literally fly in cars from different countries for GTM to work on. I've never heard of Technosquare having that happen.

Then again, Technosquare may offer a much better price. It depends on what you're looking for, I suppose.

If you're having trouble at getting info at Technosquare, ask for Howard, he's the main engine and installation guy...had a great experience with Howard for some installed stuff...as for their FI experience just look at Cheston's car

GTM is a HKS Pro dealer. You can not go wrong with GTM.

Because GTM has so many cars and people flying in cars from different countries you may not get as personable an experience as you would with technosquare. I have never used either but it would make sense that gtm would treat the customer who pays 30k better then the one who pays 10k. Me personally i might go for the shop that is almost solely working on my car and maybe one more. BUT i also cant afford gtm lol

Smaller shop with no experience would also mean a lot longer downtime, which for me wouldnt be ideal. Being rich would solve the problem

I would never go to GTM.

I also do not live near them or have a car for them to do whatever to it that they do, for what it's worth.

I don't think you need to worry about Technosquare not knowing how to do something on your car. They are old school Japanese guys and they only work on a few cars at once. I'd rather spend my money at a small shop who will give me customer service and turn out my car in a week then go to a big shop and wait 3-6weeks for install/tune. I have nothing bad to say about GTM though...lots of people are happy with their work, but I would go for the little guy. Another bad *** shop like GTM is SP Engineering, they also do HKS I believe.

i dont understand what the deal is with only autorized HKS dealer being able to install the supercharger

That is horrible. Even though they are extremely busy, there should be no excuse to dismiss a potential customer.

Join the club playa! those somababishes don't give a flying ****. They have bigger fish to fry. I have also made several attempts to contact them to get information about their kits and have heard nothing from them.

I'm down to Greddy TT 18G/20G or the PowerLab single turbo and have TS do the install + tune.

customer service and follow-on support is a good idea to keep in mind if anythign were to happen. I would pick somewhere that is close to your home location.. i mean If you're local to the South Bay, you can always pop into Technosquare to keep eyes on the progress of your vehicle since they are in torrance.

i'm sure either choice you make you will be happy since you'll be getting more power.

good luck with your choice. both are very reputable shops.
