Default New clutch or resurface?

So I am on a lil bit of a budget but was wondering what would be better for a slipping clutch? just get a new 1 or get it resurfaced?

all depends on what you use the car for, future plans, year, etc

Default New clutch

Hello Fito68,

Gripforce is a parts distributor in Brea Calif, 92821.

They sell OE to different stage racing clutches. They sell clutch and flywheel packages.

This is their website:
http://gripforce.com/store/

I found them originally through ebay:
http://stores.ebay.com/gripforce-clutches

I emailed and phoned Gripforce.
I arranged for an ebay price and picked up the item.
I purchased an Exedy(OE) clutch and Fidanza flywheel. Great deal.

I hope this helps,
Lboy06.

iono how good the Z clutch is.. never had to replace one.. The Evo's stock clutch sucks so everybody replaced them with aftermarket like ACT or Exedy. You can look into different stages of aftermarket clutch, depending on your current HP and how much power you want in the future. while you are at it, you can also replace the flywheel for a lighter one. all up to how much you are willing to spend. If you can do it yourself, probably cut the cost in 1/2

again, there is nothing that can be resurfaced on these cars due to the dual mass nature of the stock flywheel

if your clutch is slipping, it must be replaced. If the flywheel is also shot (only way to know is have a professional examine it when it's removed), it will also need to be replaced (less common, though it is possible). There are lots of good replacement clutches out there, ranging from an OEM replacement (same one your car came with) on up to quad disk with integrated flywheels for ultra high torque use. It all depends on what was asked above. Year of car, intended or current mods, budget, etc

NISMO never sold a complete 'kit' it was always sold as individual clutch disk, and pressure plate. Problem is the pressure plate is no longer offered stateside last I checked, outside of special order from Japan. Chances are if your disk is slipping, it's the pressure plate being worn that is causing it

at that price point, I'd suggest the Exedy Sport clutch. Nice pedal, easy to drive, holds more torque than stock, and fairly priced. Would be a nice choice if you are not planning a crazy amount of mods (ie forced induction...and even then, it will work well for a car in the 400 whp/torque range) We have em if you need one (pm us)

your clutch is slipping = its done. you need it replaced. if you have the $$, buy a lighter flywheel.. if not, resurface it, and buy a new clutch (like Z1 said).

i lagged it when my clutch was slipping.. in the end, i could barely get the car to the shop. so don't wait.. get it over with

and prepare to feel like a noob again, after market clutch is a bitccch to break in..

at the risk of being repetitive, you cannot resurface a stock flywheel

breaking in a clutch is not hard at all - it just involves driving sensibly for a few hundred miles to bed the disk in properly

maybe the Z clutch is easier to drive with? when I swapped the Exedy stage 1 clutch on my Evo, it was such a PITA to drive.. the car stalled instantly upon clutch release.. not even fully release, barely letting it off the floor..

anyways.. Fito just go buy a clutch.

an Evo and a Z have absolutely nothing in common with one another on any level, particularly with respect to the drivetrain
