Default Cell Phone Ticket

My wife just got a cell phone ticket. She has the option of paying the fine or traffic school. Will our insurance go up if we just pay the citation.

Citation is $160, Traffic School is $206 plus traffic school fees.

What should I do?

Traffic school for a cell-phone ticket?

That's pretty funny.

Finally a man's response!!!! Either drive the car or talk on the phone, or maybe just get a hands free handset.

My wife knew to stay off the phone while driving when we met 10 years ago lol.
Sorry op, but I see the streets filled with retards that cannot keep up/pay attention with traffic because the phone call is more important than driving. I guess you can write a letter of declaration like a speeding ticket.

How were you informed of your options? I ask because I’m not sure this is entirely accurate. I would speak with someone at the court clerk’s office and find out for sure what your options are. I receive plenty of tickets every year and officers themselves have misinformed me of my various options when receiving the citation. Even the automated system will not inform you of all you can do in certain situations. Traffic school is only to avoid receiving a point on your driving record. It has no affect on your insurance premiums other then not showing up on a report the first time around. I’m not sure you can receive any points for a cell phone ticket so why bother? Another question would be, is this the only violation listed on the citation?
