Default quick question on parking ticket

got a ticket for parking on red while my sister was going to ATM (i know its my fault) but the ticket ***** didnt get out of her car wrote down my plate number on a piece of paper (my sister saw her write it down) while i was driving away when i saw her behind me. the ticket ***** was also writing down other cars that were in the red zone. can that ***** do that not get out and start writing down plate numbers in her car? i just want to know before i pay if what she did is legal or not.

how do i google this question?

thanks

I don't know why it would matter whether she got out of her car or not. How was the ticket given to you? I'm thinking it would be best to just pay the ticket. You admit you were in the wrong.......................

If you really want to fight it, contact one of those fight ticket companies. Need to figure out what constitutes being parked vs. the car was running and person was in the car. Not sure...best to contact someone who really knows.

I thought if you're sitting in your car it's referred to as standing, not parking?

OP, you'll be better off just paying it...

I've seen first hand some of these parking meter sociopaths sometime get carried away. I'd like to see that they provide a photo of the offense.

You must have been watching her closely if you can remember that she didn't get out of her car after a month. Obviously you were parked or were standing in a no parking zone so why the complaint. Just pay the ticket and get over it.

The short answer is yes, she can do that. However, you need to look at the sign before you assume you are guilty. Were you stopped or parked? There is a difference and the law has to define what you are doing and if it is illegal. If it says no stopping, that is different....you're toast.

You should check out CVC22500, which is the code on prohibited stopping, standing or parking & CVC22502 covers curb parking. Now CVC22506-07.6 covers local regulations on parking, so you may want to check that code. In either case, CVC40215 covers what you must do to fight the ticket.

The parking enforcement officer can write everything on the cite from whatever position they want to as their is no legal requirement for them to do so in a specific spot, nor are they obligated to warn you about anything....it is called selective enforcement. The officer can make that choice if they choose to or if what you are doing is questionable as to whether of not it actually is a violation.

Check the code you got cited for. Then, read the complete vehicle code and see if it applies. If you need more help, just ask.
