then whatever else tires whether they be OEM, T1R, Proxes4, kumho ecsta, azenis st115s in another class

we are trying to make 3 classes by the event organizer and down the line if we have to set up the rules similar to the s2000 challenge / point system but we need to get that interest up first and see who comes out

hope you somewhat understand where im coming from bro. I guess on march 11 i can possibly go around and check out each car one by one if i have to so i can fairly place the cars in each area, we cant please everyone but will try to be fair as possible

It'd be great to meet you in person one of these times. Buttonwillow?

I think this is a good decision, as no track virgin should be in any timed / racing event.

thanks scott, hope we can generate interest and encourage more Z's out there on track but of course safety first and foremost

I fully understand, but in the rules you have the tires all screwed up for what people have done to their cars.

My version of the rules

Street Class Requirements
* tires 140 treadware or above, (possible width restriction 255? close to stock)
* springs and shocks or swaybars (No Coilovers) no front camber arms
* no GT wings (lets the average street guy run with his body kit)
* bolt ons intake, spacer, exhaust only allowed
* must have full interior w/ both seats * racing seats okay
* No BBK

Modified Class Requirements
* 140 treadware tires or above
* any type of aero or splitter/ wing
* 2 way coilovers or spring/shock & sways
* bolt ons such as intake, exhaust, headers, test pipe allowed
* must have full interior (racing seats okay both)

Unlimited Class Requirements
* DOT R compound R888, NT01, RA1 etc... No Hoosier or V710's unless NA
* any type of forced induction (turbo, supercharger, NOS)
* built motor, cams, pistons rods etc...
* gutted interior
* more than 1/2 of the car in carbon fiber/ fiberglass or lightened automatically bumps you into unlimited class

you did ask us for our opinions on the rules to make them better, my biggest issue is the same as terrasmak, using 100 treadwear tires in modified would allow you to basically run r compounds nt01/r888/ra1's when those should be for unlimited (you have all those listed for unlimited but they are all 100 treadwear which would allow you to run them in modified), modified should be 140 treadwear or higher, even all the tires you listed in modified are 140 and higher, just my opinion.

What about adding a 4th class in between unlimited and modified, force induction but no built motor? Full interior. Street Tires.

Seems silly to have someone running full interior with a HKS supercharger making 350whp running with a 500whp gutted track monster.

For example an unlimited and super unlimited. Remember guys, these rules are just for the first event. They will most likely change for the following events.

I like this except for the lack of Hoosiers. Unlimited should mean unlimited. This coming from a guy that would likely have to run unlimited in an NA car because the interior is gutted.

It will continue to be a challenge given all the nuances of specific set-ups. You have your one thing, another guy will have his one thing. For example, my car is gutted, but the weight savings are overtaken by the roll bar yet I'd be in unlimited in an NA car. The event needs to be popular enough that you are able to have 4 classes and fill each class. Anyone, like myself, that would get bumped into a higher class than they'd rather because of a single item will need to adjust according. I'd need some F/I and you'd need some wheels and tires. Gutting the interior is minor for a weight savings. I did mine to make the roll bar install easier, and so that I could fit 4 18x10 wheels with tires on them inside the car, which could not be done with a full interior.

Allow hoosiers or full slicks in Unlimited for NA cars only?

this seems to be the best one. modified class should be limited to 140 tread. make it 3 classes, make it simple. we dont even know for sure how many people are coming out to this first event. would be kind of pointless to have 4, 5 classes with only 10 people.... but def. unlimited should be 40-140 and modified 140+. and stock class can IMO shoul be 200+ but ehh. doenst bother me if they have 140s.

That's an option, but then it's one of those small asterisks that likely won't apply to many cars. Honestly, and I realize this also likely only applies to a few of us, I think that any tire DOT tire should be allowed in the Unlimited class. Additionally, with the weight variance between the early base/enthusiast models and the later touring and GT models, I think a gutted car should not be something that bumps one up a class as the weight savings is in the noise of the production weights of the car anyway.

140 makes sense since that's the OEM tire TWR. A 100 TWR tire is infinitely better than most of the 140 TWR tires.

i honestly like terramak's rules since its a bit more specific and for hoosiers i would throw them in unlimited and i dont mind them at all like scott

let me get back to you on it as i am following orders as well but am in charge to a certain extent of what goes on etc...

for the classes, like 97supra TT stated it is the first event and the individuals throwing the event wanted to limit the classes to 3 initially is how the event organizer wanted it

so hold those thoughts and ill see how we can best accomodate everyone

must read the event is almost sold out so those who are competing in the march 11 350z/ G35 challenge need to sign up right away and its roughly 4 days to receive that discount we already have 59 cars in attendance a month prior to the actual event so sign up soon and dont get shut out on this one

****next time attack 350z/ G35 challenge event will be on Saturday April 2nd at Horse thief Mile ****

This works. . . guess I'll be putting the interior back in (and running on R888s)! That is, unless you put an asterisk on the interior stuff for cars with safety equipment.
