Just because the rest of traffic is going over the speed limit, that doesn't change the law. Pay the ticket.

[QUOTE=03BrickZ;9060796]i had a problem with speeding tickets until i started asking the cops if they had the most recent report of the calibration of the radar gun. One of my friends is a police officer and he told me that they are suppose to be calibrated at least every month[QUOTE]

The only way to actually have a possibility to get out of it right there^

except in some states the police are not required to show you on the street - but in court, which they do on a regular basis.

don't break the law, don't get jammed up.

I had a bad experience with speeding, 95 in a 45 in my old 1997 eclipse gsx i was 17 young and very stupid. After paying 500 for a lawyer plus 600 for the ticket because i didint want 5 points on my record i learned my lesson. My Z is driven under speed limit, just leave the speeding for the track its not even worth it to speed on the highway.

i think this dude need to meet his quota that is why he pulled me over for going 75 mph!!

Ya I feel you man...... I got tickets all the time and I just suck it up lol. Last time when I got a ticket the cop told me I was tailgating someone then sped up to 80.... I was like wtf. How was it my fault if some rutard cut me off then slow the f down to like 45 on a freeway............ And ya I down shifted, 2 secs after he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 80. Seriously? 45 to 80 in 2 sec including my noob shifting?
bad day! wasnt it. if we did something wrong we would gladly pay it but it is insane for thing like this. How many people out there are going 65 mph on freeway? i think every body is driving around 75....

i drove around 75 in san diego and many cops passed me many time without saying anything..

That is how narrow minded people convince themselves that what happened was not their fault, when it was.

You can demand for a recent calibration sheet of the speed gun used. They do have a range of inaccuracy of 1-3 mph depending on the one used. Unless the gun has not been calibrated at all, at the most you might only get your ticket down to 75mph, but not really worth the time to fight it.

i see. i just need a clear explanation like this to show me that i cant fight. I think other people do not know the reason why fighting will not work. they just told me to pay. Thank you for the reason! Now i know.

Dont worry, your situation is not a big deal. You have a couple options, first is to hire a lawyer for like 400 or 500 bucks and they usually play tricks with change of venues and friends in the court house and get things dismissed. Second you can extend the ticket as long as possible and go to trial to fight it and if the officer shows up ask the judge for traffic school and a reduction in fine due to some financial hardship (i'll let you get creative with that) and pay a reduced fine. Or best option cop doesnt show up because the ticket was so long ago and you get to keep your money and clean drving record.

Good Luck!

Forgot to say, don't bother actually fighting the ticket against the cop, you will not win lol

get a lawyer for like $250. I really doubt you're gonna win the case if you contest yourself. pay the lawyer to get it dismissed for you and not have the ticket on your record.

that's how much I paid for mine up here in washington. call around and get qoutes for traffic ticket orientated lawyers and read reviews online. my uncle lives in escondido and pays $100 for his lawyer, but then again he gets hooked up.

ZS14 - Ironic number huh? I've had adjudication withheld in every situation.

I've never had points applied to my license, ever.

I would be happy to back that up if you'd like to make a large proposition wager.

You can PM me to discuss any and all at any time.

Who reeks of ****? Not I said teh lgear080!

Your right, EVERYONE speeds to some extent, even the ones on here offering advice and nailing it to you. In regards to your ticket, you just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I drive at least 150 miles a day on the weekday in Diego, and fear losing my life everyday cause of the knuckleheads that speed and nearly slam into the back of my car when traffic is stopped or slowing down. For this, I don't have any sympathy for you, but a few people offered some good advice to you... Questioning the calibration of the device used could help you, but admitting guilt, assuming that you have a good driving record, and stating to the court that this is a single occurence on your behalf and is out of character for you would probobly hold a lot of weight, considering you already admitted to speeding. Asking for a reduction of fine by completion of defensive driving should help as well, especially with your insurance company, since this is where you are going to suffer the most.

i probably will just pay for the damn ticket. but thanks for the suggestion. i think it will take lots of time to solve this. Show up in court, come back, driving all the way to irvine for court up there.

i think my ticket is about 200-250 dollars. gas+ my time come out to be around 150 to 200 dollars (I got school and working for a Lab when not studying). I probably got a reduction around 50 buck or less.
