Default Got speeding ticket going 78 mph in 65 mph freewa

I got a speeding ticket a couple days ago for going over speed limit. The cops pulled me over, i was driving a camry not my z, he asked if i knew why he pulled me over. I was like I dont know. He told me i was speeding. I was like "Sir, i could not be going over 75 mph." He told me that i was going 78 mph.

it was 11:18 am i was heading north on the 405 freeway around Irvine county! if i was driving faster than that i will pay my damn fine. Every body was going 75 or above at the time. I told him i was going with the speed of traffic! He told me i was ahead of every body!

Anyways, below is my ticket.

anyone out there know how i can contest this. I feel like going 78mph on a 65 mph freeway should not be fined!

i erased my name and officer name for privacy.

Speed limits are there for a reason. I'm not saying I don't speed. I actually do 5-10 mph over on a regular basis. But I'll suck it up and pay the fine if I ever get a ticket.

you will get ran off the freeways if you go the speed limit in cali. good lord D:

I feel your pain, but you were at fault obviously. go in and plead for a lesser charge if you have a clean slate.

i am not saying it is not my fault but i feel like i should be able to fight this in court.

from the comments i know many of you are speeder. I am not a speeder when i am driving with my family in the car. I the reason i feel like this is not really right because every body was going 75 something at the time. and majority of people are going over speed limit on freeway. i got my license for over 8 years now and i havent got a ticket that i think i dont deserve. I got some tickets that i think i absolutely deserved but this is insane. i was going not over 75 but the cop said 78 and wrote me ticket. i feel like i should be able to fight this. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum had fought and won! I am going to fight for it though.

You believe you shouldn't be fined for going 78 in a 65 zone? Why? Because 78 is slower than 65? You were going over 65 and that's considered breaking the law. You just got unlucky and met a cop that needed to meet his quota. Just pay. I'm sure it wont be too much. Good luck.

I think he's trying to say that he shouldn't be fined for going 78 cuz he was only going 75....

Ya I feel you man...... I got tickets all the time and I just suck it up lol. Last time when I got a ticket the cop told me I was tailgating someone then sped up to 80.... I was like wtf. How was it my fault if some rutard cut me off then slow the f down to like 45 on a freeway............ And ya I down shifted, 2 secs after he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for 80. Seriously? 45 to 80 in 2 sec including my noob shifting?

You say you admitted to the officer that you were doing 75. That is an admission of your guilt since the speed limit was 65. Just man up and pay the ticket.

You really have no argument to make here. 78 or 75 mph makes no difference as they are both over the speed limit. Doesnt matter if everyone was doing it, probably one of the worse arguments since 1st grade. And if you go into court and argue the same, you have made their jobs much easier, by admitting you were going 75, which is speeding.

You can demand for a recent calibration sheet of the speed gun used. They do have a range of inaccuracy of 1-3 mph depending on the one used. Unless the gun has not been calibrated at all, at the most you might only get your ticket down to 75mph, but not really worth the time to fight it.

Wait, so if everyone else is speeding it's not against the law anymore?

i had a problem with speeding tickets until i started asking the cops if they had the most recent report of the calibration of the radar gun. One of my friends is a police officer and he told me that they are suppose to be calibrated at least every month, most police departments dont do it , so you can maybe slide by with this little trick but if it was calibrated then just grab on to your ankles because your going to get F***** by the long ***** of the law.

The ticket doesn't indicate radar was used. I suspect the original poster was being paced by the police officer.
