I graduated from UNLV. Let me tell you, I used to play football there and from 1987 to 1993 every new years eve i stayed in vegas. But if you are coming from another city better get there early.....like a 3-5 days early to find a parking space. they shut down the streets so that you cant drive anywhere. better have some good walking shoes and a wad of money. you will see some crazy stuff....stuff that youd never think you would see before. Everytime I participated in the new years eve thing and believe me.......its off the meat rack!!! Good Luck adn be safe...

If you don't already have a room, you might be SOL. I was there for the whole millenium thing. Waaayyyy crowded. Driving anywhere is probably not a good idea. It took us 13 hours to get back to LA after New Years. Good luck!

I've been there many times on New years. It was a little different last year than it was some prior years. Before last year there weren't any of those railings between the street and the walkway along the strip near Bellagio, Caesars, etc intersection (Flamingo Rd). Last Year people were getting crushed and you really couldnt move around as you could in the past. In the past everyone was in the middle of the street, people were climbing on top of the Caesars statues and on top of the stop lights. It was absolute mayhem but very fun. Last year not so much. THey made sure everyone was out of the street and on one side of the rail.

Anyway i'm sure you will have a good time either way.

If you haven't booked a room yet you might be having to book more than one night since that is sometimes the requirement for new Years.
