Default Moving To Irvine

I'll be relocating to Irvine for a job in Santa Ana. I'm from NYC and have always lived in NY state so going all the way out to California is going to be a pretty crazy move. It's a temporary move for only 9 months so I'm wondering, what's there that's really worth looking into in California? Remember I'm from NYC so I probably haven't done a lot of stuff you guys think is second nature. Thought about learning how to surf but water really isn't my thing, haha. Those nice canyon roads look pretty sweet though.

I'm also going to be driving my Z down there. Going to be road-tripping there in a span of 3-5 days while touring the country. Lots of pictures will be taken.

Go to the beaches, cause even in cold *** weather people still go to Santa Monica pier. I guess i have lived here to long myself, because I cannot think of any suggestions right now.

If you like canyons, make sure to visit Mullholland, GMR (Glendora Mountain Road), and ACH (Angeles Crest HWY).

If I think of any other places i'll post up for ya.

Irvine is a nice city to live in and there is plenty to do/see in SoCal. You can surf and snowboard this time of year.

You won't be too far from San Diego so make sure to take a trip down there. If you're into the bar/club scene hit up the Gaslamp district in SD.

I'm in Westminster, just north of Irvine - when do you get into So Cal? Let us know when you arrive if you haven't already. There are some end of the year gatherings that are coming up you may be interested in joining. Check out the regional forum So Cal topics for dates, and info. Welcome to So Cal...........
There is also a Cars and Coffee gathering in Irvine every saturday morning you may want to check out.

I second Gaslamp, I went to School at UC Irvine and there really is not much night life in Irvine after a certain time. But you are real close to Newport Bar and Downtown Santa Ana, and Downtown Fullerton. Oh and the weather...not nearly as cold as NY. Probably only a little cold from December to January, but it is easily bearable.

I live and have lived in Irvine my whole life. The city is considered one of the "safest" cities in the US. It's really nice, quiet, and clean. It's true that it's really quiet at night, but there are places (The District, Spectrum) that stay open past 10. The beaches are 10-15 minute drive, mountains (snowboarding, skiing) are about 45-60 minute drive. Hope you enjoy your time here!
