Orange Coast Infiniti [Beware]
#21
Oh no you're not bashing on me, it was just the way that OC Infiniti said they didn't know anything was just really worrisome. I've never dealt with OC Infiniti before and when I called Tony he said that he had everything in stock on 4/12 (this was last Saturday). I initially ordered the part on 4/3.
I was worried because Tony said that everything was in stock and I would be waiting for two weeks for the part to arrive. This usually means one of two things (to me)
1) They didn't order the part, or forgot to order the part and gave me some bullchit reasoning.
2) Part got lost in transit.
The likelihood of of number two is really low, so I was leaning towards number one.
I've worked in a company that deals with shipping many parts, and unless there is some kind of human error it doesn't take two weeks to ship something within California. Motordyne uses Fedex and as a courier they usually do a good job.
Each shipping label that is printed contains a tracking number and that comes standard. Depending on the company that ships the part they either
1. Give the tracking number to the buyer.
2. Give tracking numbers by request.
But either way, what rubbed me off was when I called the following week after ordering it.
1) Told me that they don't know why it wasn't coming in this week.
2) Said they called Motordyne and still didn't know why it wasn't coming in this week.
3)When I asked about a tracking number they said that they didn't know if they had one or not.
4) Told me to call back everyday next week to check.
I don't know if this applies for you or not, but I shouldn't be calling the manufacturer to ask whether or not a part has shipped. It is OC Infiniti's responsibility to communicate with the customer and inform them of the status of shipment. If there is a reason for delay, they should find out and tell me that "Motordyne doesn't have the V-Band clamp in stock".
I've ordered parts from online vendors before, and here's a simple example of when I ordered rails for my Corbeau seats.
Tomohiro:
Corbeau has just informed us that these brackets are now on back order until 19th September
which is 3 weeks out.
Can you wait?
Let me know, and sorry for this unforeseen inconvenience.

Of course, I can wait! Why? I understand that parts have to be made and shipments do take time.
When I'm given a reach around and a bullchit reason, or even no reason at all for why a part isn't arriving I question if I will actually receive it, which led me to prematurely write this thread. I do agree that it is overreacting but when I pay for a quality part I would like to have the peace of mind that it is actually going to arrive.
If they don't have a part, they don't have it. It won't ship without the clamp and I completely understand that. I too will be installing the part the day it arrives (:
