Default FINALLY I officially own a Z :D

a little history:

-Dad owned one of the first gen Z's in the US

-Dad was in process of buying a house in the 70's, but mom wanted a Z too, so she bought one and my dad no longer had money to buy a house LOL

-ex gf owned a 2005 chrome silver Z

-3/20/2015 I bought a 2007 350z. white/auto (I know, I know)

I am very, very happy with my HR

plans (subject to change lol)

zspeed aluminum splash shield (car didn't even have a stock one smh)
akebono or brembo brakes (my dad keeps calling my stock calipers "cheapo" lol)
leaning towards forgestar 19'' rims
bc coils but considering cheaper options like tein or form function
art pipes
tune

and wondering about sound. I have a jl audio 1000/1v2 and 12w7 at my disposal, but really want to run subs hidden right behind the seats. just need something that won't blow with that power. also probably just gonna run components off my kenwood deck. I do all my own audio work so I might go through 3 setups before it's final.

what's been everyone's favorite mod?

nice. I think that was the color when I saw the first z ad "the run" when I went to see a movie. I liked it better than the movie I saw

first off, it's my daily. also if I have to drive in LA traffic for 2 plus hours with a manual, I just might kill someone. seriously I get pissed. also when my iPhone is going off like fire alarm in hell, I like to be able to respond.

if I get a second z, for sure it'll be manual. I just got off driving a daily Saturn ion beater with manual everything and recalls up the ying yang, so this is heaven for me.

Had to partially take off the rear bumper this evening to get to the license plate lights and rear hatch button power wire. Darn body shop guy didnt plug it in smh.

So worth it though. I'm in love with this car. Stock stereo SUCKED omg. Just my kenwood deck alone increased sound quality big time.

Thanks all for the welcoming. I'm an excited little z n00b :-)

Auto is no bueno, but you made a wise choice for LA traffic. When I drove up there for parts or something from San Diego I actually liked the traffic.... I had no where to go and got to hear my exhaust against the "k rail" concrete barrier over and over

I have BC BR coils on my Z and I'm really pleased with them so far. I plan to AutoX on them in April, so I may sing a different tune then. Sounds like you have a good idea of GOOD mods.

My recommendations on mods:
Pay it off(if it's not already done)
-Sway bars-I have Hotchkiss and before my coils were my favorite mod by far.
-Catback to pair with your ART pipes (ARTs are on my want list) Keep in mind this won't unlock a billion HP, but will make driving WAY more enjoyable.
-Suspension. If I built my car again I would have gone: Sways, coilovers, camber/toe adjusting goodies, exhaust, wheels/tires, 4.08 gears/differential and other visual junk after that.

What trim did you get? # of miles? I only see one picture at work.

I would stay away from the mods (except exhaust) until you learn the car. I have had my Z for 5 years and I am NO WHERE near the car's level of drivability. Plus, if you have a base line to compare it to, you won't get bored as fast!

I lived in L.A. for 30+ years. Had a manual 90% of the time.

Hill on Doheny & Sunset was no fun, I conquered it.

Hard to get excited about an autotragic, sorry/enjoy?

yeah it's paid off. 7200 salvage title no frame damage says my shop so i'm good with it. 101k miles. the price is another reason why i was ok with auto. i drove a stick '06 and it was cool and all but maybe i'm getting old as i prefer the benefits of auto.

good idea on the sways. i've been pushing my limit on turns and i want the limit increased.
bc coils! that's what i'm considering along with the swift spring upgrade as i may want to get a cup kit down the road. trying not to cheap out and settle for teins but we'll see.
the car came with a full nismo exhaust already. i was stoked. i tested the guy who sold it to me by asking "exhaust, stock? oem?" and he said "all original" in his strong accent LOL. sweet. i was using google translate half the time i was talking to him (spanish)

and yes. the 4.08 gears i'm really excited about but i must get a manual type LSD first and that'll be some time before i save enough for that.

yeah i had a manual integra gsr for years. it was okay for me when i worked 7 miles from home, but even just two hours traffic on the way to vegas and i had to pull over. and hondas have EASY clutches haha. plus 7200 dollars plus my favorite color further won me over. i think there's a guy with a clean title daytona blue 07 with 122k miles and wants 9500 obo and it's stick, but i'm really happy with my autotragic in white
