SOME cars may not "run better" as you say, but for us supercharged guys, it is critical. Detonation is deadly for us. That's why I only use 94 octane. I can still get it here in PA at Sunoco. As someone mentioned, brand is of little consequence since most stations get their gas from several different suppliers.

Another way to boost octane is to add tolulene or xylene. Tere (with the supercharged Brickyard from TX) adds (I believe) 2 gallons of tolulene to 18 gallons of 92 octane and this gets her up to 94-95 total per tank.

my understanding is that, depending on your location, laws regulate the spec of gasoline. Then each brand is free to put in their additive. Techron is suppose to be the more expensive of the additives..which is consistent with Chevron costing a few cents more then other brands.

here in south bay, arcos' & chevron sell premium for the same price... and they're only a block away from each other ... weird...

thanks all for your views, guess i'm sticking to my chevron with techron... at least my lil gas rebate card helps with these crazy gas prices

Gas Prices have gotten insane. I am glad my Z isnt my daily.

I heard a rumor that the Cali gas is really Corona Beer. Dont quote me on that but it does make sense if you think about it

El Diablo,

Did you know that Corona is just about the only "major" beer that you cannot get in a keg?

Makes you wonder huh...

i always use 89 cause 91 is wayyy tooo expensive. i pay 2.43 for 89 and 91 is like 2.53. so its like $50 for a full tank of gas... with premium.... thats just tooo expensive. wats the big deal between 89 and 91...

I fill up with 101 octane for $3.99 per gallon at Alliance Gas at Woodley & Sherman Way in Van Nuys every chance I get.

As bad as this sounds I don't pay attention to the price of gas I just go get it. When I'm done filling it up I make a mental note that I keep paying more and more. But that is the extent, this is only because I have to drive I live too far away to walk, my schedule can change at a moments notice and since I work 6 days a week I don't want to spend any free time there. However I was filling up a couple of weeks ago and this couple pulled in got to fill up then looked at the price threw a huge fit about not wanting to pay that much then pulled out. I guess they weren't that low.
