one of our customers car's was in a not so bad accident but the air bags deployed... the initial estimate was less then totaling out the car... but after getting it fixed was well over the amount they would have totaled the car out...

i totalled mine about 2 months ago.. the car was worth 26k blue book, but my insurance company gave me 30k. I only owed 24k. Good luck.. there is still hope.
Let me know if you want to part out some things off the Z.. I am looking for several interior pieces to make custom parts for people.

To my undertrained eye, it looks like mostly skin damage, and the frame/doors looked straight. I bet its not totalled.... Even the wheels/suspension look untouched.

now I have to wait for the value from the opposing insurance co.

No the airbags did not deploy. The left inner, outer rail, and the right inner rail were replaced. In this case the car stuck it's nose out and got it taken off by a honda civic. $1800.00 damage to the civic.
Another thing on estimate might be your area's labor rates. Here in N.C. Body and Paint labor are $38.00 per hour. In Cali the rates are probably insane, goes along with prices of everything else out there
The hourly rates can cause one to total out also. Shops keep going up on their rates and it is more cost effective just to total it in alot of cases. Eventually shops are going to have to adjust to the market, or else their business will start drying up.

amazing...hope the insurance works out...ya never know. Remember, the settlement value is totally negotiable. Whatever number they come back with, tell them absolutely NO! Try to get the full highest retail value in the Kelly Blue Book. From experience, they will always try to low-ball you with the first offer. Document any aftermarket stuff you put on the car too. Some insurance companies, such as State Farm in CA will cover those as well...anything permamently attached to the car is covered.

Okay Guys on a lighter note....
I don't owe anything on it... I plan to use a majority of the money for a down.
so far I have test driven an 05 Legacy GT and an VW R32.
I'm still going to test drive others. Let's see on my list are:
G35 Coupe/Sedan
Volvo V40/V50 Turbo
Audi A4 1.8T Quattro
Volvo V50 Wagon
WRX
and the Titan..
Any other suggestions 35K or less??

i hear that State Farm is a b!tch to work with when it comes to how much they are willing to give you. my mom only got $1000 from State Farm for a 97 Town Car.
sorry to hear about your loss and good luck with the insurance company.
