Default Aug 21 Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic

Taught on Buttonwillow's Challenging Race Track, Not in a Classroom

Our instructors will take you through a short ground school session focusing on safety & performance driving techniques. Practice controlled stopping and cornering techniques and skid recovery in the controlled environment of the track, without the distraction of opposing traffic.

8:30 am to 4:30 pm
Sunday, May 9
Sunday, July 25
Saturday, August 21
Saturday, December 18

Registration Fee - only $195
Includes Event T-shirt and lunch
Gates open at 8:00 am for sign-in and safety inspection
Helmet Required
Participants welcome to bring family, friends and a picnic

These clinics are very relaxed and not intimidating for first-timers. Buttonwillow is one of the best tracks in the country for learning/teaching, as it has a great variety of turns and almost nothing to hit. Expert instruction is available every session from licensed racers, not just some guy with one or two more events under his belt than you. For track-day veterans, expect lots of track time.

For additional information, call the Buttonwillow Raceway Park office at 661-764-5333, or send email to: lesrace@aol.com.

I have run the Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic twice in the past year. It is a great time. The track is terrific, and the driving instructors excellent. I recommend it to newbies and advanced drivers alike. I will try to make it there on Aug. 21.

I am running the big road course at Willow Springs this weekend. WAAAAHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

The schedule is typically the same from event to event, but you might want to check again before December.

One thing they did the last time (May 2004?) was to "Walk the Track". This is a great addition to the Buttonwillow Performance Driving Clinic. They take a group of drivers out to a particular turn (e.g. "Magic Mountain") ON FOOT and, while there are no drivers on the track, they explain exactly how you should take the turn. Walking and seeing part of the track up close is an great experience.
