Monday at BIR
Well,
finally decided to test the Z's true abilities and went on a track day with a couple of the viper guys i know and the corvette club. We did the short competition track at BIR (2.5 miles) and it was awesome! The instructors helped out a ton and by the end of the day i felt really confident in my car and my driving. Some new front pads and she is back in action. here are some pics from the day and also a video from one of the viper guys with a car PC so you can see what we were doing :-) He took turn 1 and 2 around 136 in a full track 09 viper with slicks and ran around a 1:47, my fastest time that we actually used the stopwatch was 1:56. I guess i have something to shoot for next time. If you haven't ever been i would strongly suggest going with the corvette club, really relaxed and super cool guys! Enjoy!

Make sure to check out the last couple of pics of a certain black car :-) the guy drove all morning his full track M3 and then starting showing chords so he packed it up around noon. Not done with his track day, he made a call to have his other car dropped off and to my surprise that is what showed up

Wow that brings back memories especially the last few turns before the pits. My trip to BIR was probably the most fun I have ever had in the Z. Highly recommended! Only suggestion would be that you put on some new pads before you head up. It totally ripped up my front brakes too.
So what was your top speed before heading into turn 2? I had a hell of a time when I went, it was actually there the friday of the same week(Sept. 4th). That GTR is insane, the owner lives about 10 miles away from where I live, and his house is HUGE.
Andrew, I take it you paid for the performance driving school? I could never figure out their open track policy. I want to go back, but don't want to pay another $285 just to use the track.
We need to get a group together and do this.

I paid 220 and it was an open track day on a monday with the corvette club. fastest speed i hit around turn 2 was about 126 before i let off with a car in front of me! We need to all go up there and rip around one of these times.... it is for sure the best money you can spend and the group was really relaxed and let us go at whatever pace we wanted too!

Yep, I love BIR track days.
We seriously need to plan for a Z track day with another club. Maybe if we start a thread for it and plan it for next summer, we might actually get people to go. I can always take a Monday off.
Interesting... I didn't realize the track was so different this time around. There's a few corners I didn't recognize. I went in 1999.
