[AUS] New to Texas
Hello Texas,
I just wanted to send a quick post to say, "Hi!"
I'm moving from New York to Austin to begin a new career, and the 350Z is getting picked-up by car-carrier in the morning, and I'll be flying there on Wednesday.
I hope to meet a bunch of you guys at the next few events, and if anyone has good suggestions for Austin/Round Rock dealerships/tuners then please let me know.
Although Performance may only be three hours away, it would be good to know the local shops' reputations.
Thanks,
Eugene

Yes, I am a bit freaked about the heat and humidity, but I'm reading to start blasting the A/C.
My car is a pretty-much stock Brickyard Enth with Track Wheels and Sarona Fenders. Here's an attached pic of my Z getting loaded onto the flatbed this morning. I hope to see it again in a week or so.

Just a side note from a different viewpoint...
The Capital Z of Texas Club is one of the better clubs in the country.
Very well organized and ran. Their events are well thought-out, and they've got a lot of REALLY cool cars (and people).
Join up and participate...you'll be glad you did.

Im talking holes in bumpers and deep paint scaring to the primer in large areas that they will cover up or clay up and sell to people! To make it worse these werent on the cheap models like the base they were on the 45k convertibles! BEWARE. Also the service department is slow but as for the quality of their work i never dared to test it lol. If any Z owner in austin/roundrock wants to service their Z buy some jackstands or just simple ramps and i will show you how to do it. Its so easy there really isnt any reason not to do it youself.
I do all maintenance myself.. but I have to take in my grinding POS tranny in for warranty work.
Honestly, I dont trust ANY dealerships.
I bought my Z from RoundRock, and when I discussed the first grinding tranny with them the service rep acted like he had never heard of it and was insulted I even implied it could happen! They also failed to fix my shifting seat and claimed they couldnt reproduce my gas pumping problem.
South Point told me right off the bat that the tranny probably needed to be replaced, as they had seen it several times already. Though they could not repair my seat either... I ended up doing the fix I found here which works, but I need to tighten it up with a washer.
I bought my wifes Murano from South Point.. the purchase experience was much much more difficult there... we really had push... we walked three times before they came to a reasonable number on the Murano... my wife got so pissed she started chewing out the salesman in the middle of the lobby...
We have taken her Murano in twice so far... her alignment went off at 5k miles and her visors rattle. We dropped it off at 7AM at SP, and they said it would be ready at lunch. We told them wed be back around 5 anyhow...
come 5:00 they hadnt even looked at it. So they ended up doing a rush job, scratching the steering wheel (very slightly mind you) and leaving the steering wheel WAY off alignment. They didnt even look at the visors. So the second visit was to have them fix the steering wheel alignment and complain about the scratches, to which Tony the service rep said they didnt look like they could be made by a machine, but rather by a razor... so I think he was implying that my wife or I took a razorblade to our steering wheel!!
So, so far, while South Point hasn't been perfect, they are better IMO. I hate being dicked around with by service reps... Dont get me started on F'ing Howdy Honda...
I will let you know how Todd at South Point treats me, but at this point, I am soooo mad at Nissan, the dealership comes in a distant second.

Go by and talk to Jerome at Maxwell Town North on 183 and Burnet. He knows about the Z's problems.

Golfin, thanks, I have already had it taken care of... my third transmission is now in, and my second axles are being put in as we speak.
I am gonna sell the car next week. I cant take it any more.

Welcome to Austin to all the new people.
I was out of town and missed the last couple of events. I am just now getting back into the swing of things.
Tacoma,
I don't know the timeline, but I know that the Round Rock Nissan guys are VERY familiar with the Z problems...I have the 30+ service tickets to prove it
Sorry to hear you are having problems still.
